Gen 1 battery replaced with Gen 2 battery

Just get the part number or ask for the service invoice. If they put in a J1.2 battery pack they have to replace two of the mounts that they do not replace just swapping in an older pack. If it is an older pack then point them to the TSB from Feb saying not to repair the cars with the older pack.

Already did that and that’s what made them ask Porsche for a new battery.

If the battery needs an adapter kit it's a J1.2 battery.
If it does not need an adapter kit it's a J1.1 battery.

Simple as that.

In Europe PB+ is still an option on the J1.2's, GTS and above get it standard (as always been the case)
Note this is for the sedan and sport turismo, the cross turismos always have the PB+

Making PB+ standard in the UK is a recent change. A few other things were made standard at the same time.

The way you worded it is very confusing. But I guess that's how the dealer told you that.

9J1915100EX is a completely normal J1.1 PB+ battery.
Also there is no J1.2 battery that starts with 9J1915100 nor a J1.2 battery that ends with EX.
So any J1.2 references are complete BS in this case - you're getting a new J1.1 battery.

The J1.2 retrofit battery kit would be:
9J1915589MX
9J1915590MX

The X part does not mean refurbished. It's the same as a new part. Just that in case of the X you have to give your old battery as exchange to receive a lower price on the new one.

It's still the same part as you get without the X at the end.

What Porsche sells you as new of course is up to them, but I doubt that these batteries have any old cell modules in them, those are used to repair existing batteries.

I’ll post the actual battery part number when I get it back. I know my dealer has went back and forth with Porsche over this and Porsche says it matches the latest tsb.

My replacement battery arrived Friday 6/20 and its the 9J1915100EX. From what I can tell there is not an available J1.2 class (590) battery as an option. So for all those hoping, including myself, the new battery chemistry is not an option as a replacement.

Well, I posted all the numbers. If it's indeed the EX battery that's just a J1.1 battery. The J1.2 battery is the MX and comes with the adapter kit.

I am sure they still have some J1.1 in stock, they just saw that they will be running out and can't get new ones made. But as long as there's still J1.1 stock they will provide J1.1 batteries.

I don't think there's any J1.1 cars outside of production test mules that actually have a J1.2 battery fitted at the moment.

Yep, and think all the chatter on the forums about getting the new chemistry is bullshit, unless you know differently. Checked my Porsche app and they have installed the battery, currently at 18% charge indicating 55 miles which would equate to 305 miles. However dont believe those numbers, will revert back with actuals when I pick up the car.

I doubt at this point anyone has gotten a battery pack with the numbers you provided.

No it's not. I've installed 9J1.2 battery for a customer who wanted it in his 9J1.1 and paid for it of course.

That makes perfect sense, totaly agree with you. Of course a bit disappointed with my service advisor not knowing or offering an option. Guess I should take some of the blame too for not researching a bit more on this site.
