Hey. Just wondering how confident I can be in a dealers email. I asked whether the CPO warranty “unlimited mileage” applies to the HV battery, and their response over email was yes it is.

I haven’t purchased yet. I’m sure they’ll say anything to close the deal. But is this written confirmation worth anything when push comes to shove?

No, never trust the dealer but you don’t need to, it’s published on the Porsche Canada website.

Yes. But my concern is coverage of the HV battery. There is a battery warranty for 8yr 100,00 miles. I drive a lot, and wanted to know if the unlimited mileage of the CPO outweighs the 100,000 mile limit. As per this email from the salesperson, it does. But will that hold up in 6 years if my battery goes at 120,000 miles?

I wouldn't trust anything an SA says or puts in writing. I've been deceived by them before. Notwithstanding the other advice you received above, I'd get any promises made confirmed by a sales manager at the very least.

Exactly. HV battery would be main reason for extended warranty and then it is excluded..

With my current mileage I will also go over the 160.000km already after 3-4 years. So if it breaks after the car is TL.

Not very different than other manufacturers warranties on HV batteries btw.

Hey OP,

Been through this with several CPOs with Porsche.

Let’s clarify. For the sake of simplicity, there are 2 warranties for taycan (there’s really 4 categories): the new car limited warranty and the battery warranty.

the new car warranty is 4 years/50 whatever comes first

The battery warranty is 8/100 whatever comes first.

CPO extends the new car warranty and not the battery warranty.

so if you go over 100K before 8 years, your battery warranty is dunzo.

Any dealer that says otherwise is either misinformed or just lazy to verify that is indeed Not the case. If I decide to do some homework and pull the actual CPO terms and conditions off the Porsche site, I’ll guarantee you’ll find something that states “CPO extends the new car limited warranty” or something to that effect.

Yep. But then again everything else on the car (well at least the labour) is very expensive. So I will definitely extend mine, but expect the old that’s not covered mumble which always seems to happen.

some much cleverer people on here have done some work on SoH of Taycan and from memory the degradation is very low generally. I’ve no idea how too do it, but certainly worth checking SoH as you near 8/100.
