Great experience at Gretna Ionity

I can strongly recommend the new chargers at Gretna / didn’t show on the Porsche Nav but Web said they were live so risked it.

After an aborted attempt at a Burton services I rolled into Gretna with 30m remaining / 20mins I was at 85% at let it charge to 97%

If only they were everywhere !

What speed did you get? Close to 260Kw?

I couldn’t figure out how to get the actual “output” displayed but it did charge from almost empty to 80%+ in @20mins then it slowed down a bit / but it delivered >75kWh in <40min and that was mainly due to my squeezing as much as possible for a long driving stint.
To answer the question from the other thread the ChargeScotland charger network I’ve used for the remainder of the week is a mixture of 43kw AC and 50kw CCS DC chargers - with the 150kw DC inverter option fitted the car was charging at >2m per min - happy with that given that currently in Scotland it’s Free!

I’ll check it out again in the way back down

I don’t think the 150KW option upgrade makes any difference on 50KW chargers. I thought it’s only used when you charge on a 400 volt 150KW charger. Not sure where they are located as I think most are 800 volt 150 kw, and with them the investor is not used. Can anyone confirm?

Headed back South now. 1500 miles in 5 days around Dunblane / Falkirk / Ayrshire - getting to know the car and learning to factor in a regular charge) - plus a list of questions for the dealer on Monday morning ( I cannot get any of the displays to adjust brightness - moving the slider from +5 to -5 makes absolutely no difference ?)

Re the charging my mistake ! - tried researching the new 150kw ultrarapid chargers that BP is about to commission in Brackley. They appear to be 400V AC input with 40-900+ Vdc output ? - the 150kw onboard option may end up being an unnecessary Expensive white elephant ? (Prospective new owners beware - is it really needed)

If your on the M6 I found the BP Polar 50kw DC rapidcharger at the HolidayInn/J15 (stoke) was like new - quiet and very reasonable and much less hassle than the services.

In Scotland the proliferation of the 50kw rapid DC chargers in towns and villages (all free for now) was impressive / from Auchinleck to Cumnock and Mauchline; they were all functional and a much better experience than anything I’ve experienced at services etc (overpriced and normally broken) with the exception of the Polar 50kw DC rapid charger at Smithys coffee / bakery on the A77 Ayr bypass !

Porsche U.K. need to make it much clearer where the Porsche Charging RFID card actually works (I haven’t found a list) - it didn’t work at the POLARS (I had to register separately) or ChargeScotland (Charge your Car worked!) - where does it work? (other than Ionity) -

Good write up. I’m still uncertain about the 150KW upgrade. I doubt I’ll ever use it. Charging is actually quite fun, range anxiety is non existent, it’s more about charger anxiety, knowing that it might not work! But as long as you leave a few miles, you know you’ll get a charge. Happy driving and enjoy the car. Oh btw, my dimming is the same! Only thing that dims for me is the ambient lighting.

Glad you had a great trip. I am a bit further north in Aberdeen. Charge place Scotland seem to have it covered in Scotland, I have hardly paid for any electrons in the 2000 miles I have done so far.. lovely looking car in gentian blue. Enjoy!

Never tried the screen dimming. I guess mines the same, I will try though as maybe the new software upgrade fixes it....

No range anxiety at Mauchline ! - fish and chips from “The wee chippy” on Main Street followed by Woodys ice cream (shop is 20 steps from the charger) - and yes the tablet ice cream is fantastic ! - a very comfortable charge !

Hi - heading up to Scotland for a roadtrip in my 4s. Do I need to take a Type 2 cable with me or do ChargePlaceScotland provide cables at their 43/50kw chargers? Thanks
