but unfortunately, it only lasted for a few miles and then went back to the normal (MEANING NOT SO GREAT) regen I am used to. Anyone else had this happen? Sure wish they could have made it permanent! LOL, maybe the brake fluid finally trickled down to all the nooks and crannies?

After the flush the car is not using regen, it's using the brakes. After a short period the car switches back to using regen for braking, unless you have hard stop.

Aha! Thanks for clarifying that for me. Too bad tho as it was really nice while it lasted.

Ok, so did you mean "great braking"? You can tell the difference because regen will go into the green on the power meter. Mechanical braking will not show green. The power meter will stay in the center. The Taycan has blended braking where it tries to recover energy, but blend seamlessly over to mechanical braking when needed. But it is hard to make that feel like 100% mechanical.

Is it the pedal feel, actual stopping power or amount of regen that you didn’t like?

OK, to clarify, I once owned a Chevy Volt, so I know what real regen is like...no brake pedal needed most times. My Taycan felt just like that for several miles of city driving, then went back to yes, it's on, but you can hardly feel it.

I always click it on as soon as I start the car, but if you think I cannot tell the difference, go drive a tesla and you will understand. The regen or recoup in a Taycan cannot compare in that regard.

Sorry Bob but I think you've mis-understood how regen works in the Taycan.

it's much easier to explain how regen works in Teslas first. Tesla have only 2 regen modes, strong or weak, peaking at 70kw. However Tesla do not have the technology to blend physical brakes (pads and rotors) with regen, so as soon as you touch the brake pedal, the physical pads are activated, therefore losing energy and efficiency. So they designed this "one-pedal driving" which is essentially a marketing trick hiding their limited regen technology.

In Taycans, regen is used in 95% of situations, including when you step on the brake pedal. Taycans can regen at 260kw which nearly 4 times "stronger regen" than the tesla. For most of the time, when you smash the brakes in the Taycan, regen is used to slow the car down, but Porsche has the technology to make this infinitely variable depending on how hard to step of the brakes.

To maximise, efficiency, you should turn off regen completely as the Taycan is able to decouple the drive train from motor therefore can coast for miles using next to no energy. Coasting is the most efficient way of driving EVs, not using regen. Yes it takes some getting used to but once you know how the taycan coasts you will never use the default regen again lol.

“Real regen” is not using the brake pedal?
So, the Taycan uses….fake regen?

You do understand that the Taycan still uses regen to brake the car even if you ‘turn it off’, right?

No, I did not know that, but since with it "on" it is very hard to tell it IS on, (I often have to check that the icon is lit up) . Porsche thinks it s/b set low, but many of us think we should have an option to increase it. Maybe they can start a subscription to that too? $$$$
And some do not like it. YMMV.

you can get more regen for free by pressing the brake pedal.

I would contend that no car with aspirations to be described as a sports car should be putting braking functions on the accelerator pedal.

The blended braking is one of the marvels of the Taycan and one of the reasons it’s regularly described as the best drivers EV imo.

Take control of of your regen, turn it off and enjoy driving. And as @Jayyvr890 said, you get the added benefit of coasting if you really want to maximise range.
