Not a video, but:
We own 5 cars in total, and 4 of them are EVs. The 5th will be replaced by an EV when the time comes.

'Nuff said.
Exactly my point. Everybody I know says, and I quote “if you know you know.” And even more positive if you have an EV as One of your multiple vehicles, so then you can maybe use it for more of an intended purposes as a daily. We should all aspire to have a daily EV, A sports car, and the SUV or a truck right! And if you’re real special tack on some other toys!!!!

I don’t think his point is about bashing on EVs, but rather, on dumb EV mandates. Let the ppl choose freely what they want to buy.

It's mandates on pollution, not on EVs. EVs are just the simplest ways to meet them ;)

If porsche can make a 911 run on hopes and dreams / water / pulled by non-farting horses, then they are also free to do that and sell those cars instead of EVs. Meanwhile, i'd very much like for the weather to stop getting warmer every year ;)

Yeah you can miss me with all of that. I guess I’m not the average EV buyer.

Science? Don't think has anything with buying EVs lmao.

Or you mean the facts? That the mandates are on pollution? Hardly has anything to do with buyers, more to do with manufacturers ;)

It’s generally a good policy to decouple daily transportation, HVAC, and general personal use for the majority of any countries population.
Edge case use for toys or towing (which will likely be solved with solid state batteries) are not significant enough to matter.
Case in point is the oil-related strife and disrupted oil supplies. It is wise to have most energy use decoupled from fossil fuels, the sooner this is accomplished the better.
Significant progress will be a net positive for people who use fossil fuels as demand will fall (although production will follow as their are some fixed costs for production)
Accomplishing this is a slow process as EVs are in their infancy, existing infrastructure has to age out, and convenience is slow in improving.
I understand missing out on certain iconic sounding/feeling combustion engines, but I also enjoy the instant EV torque, when you want to change lanes in a pinch, it is unlike any ICE car I’ve had, and I’ve had quite a lot.
If I get another ICE car, it will really need to sing for me.

This is not the first time Harry has given this view...starts with a narrative and builds a piece around it.

Porsche screwed up on the Taycan. They weren't helped by Covid and the Ukraine war, but they screwed the pooch and have done nothing to help the product.

As for residuals, they are what they are for an expensive sports saloon/estate...some journalists thinking they should be like 911s are part of the issue here. They aren't 911s (residuals on which will start to get hurt more and more IMO). Notice how he doesn't reference the drops in Panamera, Cayenne or even Macan sales. Porsche have problems that are deeper than "because EV".

People can now buy what they "want"? STFU Harry. Most people, apart from those like yourself, buy what they can afford. When govts were "subsidising" diesel, guess what people bought in droves.

Harry's a dinosaur. A loveable one. Given his sort of disposable income my garage would be full of some similar cars. But the new generations of driver, or even the vast majority of drivers right now and forever, couldn't care less about noise or even handling etc etc. If they did this chart from Statista would not look even remotely like it does!

Back to Harry...so Porsche cannot differentiate their products? With all their engineering know how? Then they do not deserve to survive.

I bought a Taycan (personal, non-subsidised money) because it's a fantastic car and at the time, way better than the competition. They can whine about EV all they like, but unless they keep ahead of the game through engineering (hardware...and they now need to get at least up to speed with software) then they will fail, and nobody should be upset about that. It's called progress. Survival of the fittest.
Excuse me, but isn't Harry the same "Harry" that selectively emphasized negative aspects of EVs (depreciation, infrastructure, policy) while downplaying equivalent or worse issues in the ICE market and broader car industry in a previous video shared on this forum?

I couldn't find my post regarding that earlier video, but I lost interest in this one when I realized he was going down the same path, yet again.
