That looks like PPF peeling up.
Yes. That was before I cut that piece of PPF off. Not a cut. But definitely down to the metal.

He explained it that way. Matching the hood. The front end is currently wrapped. I’ll see what he included when I get the estimate back. At this point I’m really wishing this had never happened.
Change thought process is my advice.
It has happened - you are where you are.
But.....
Nobody has died or been injured.

Trust me on this one, I have been through the latter a couple of times.

Its crap - but you will get it fixed and move on. Take it on the chin.

You/your wife could have been stood where the bonnet is. So try and be positive.

Good luck. ?

Ouch - I´m very sorry to see this, and I can surely feel your pain! Bet your wife was sad too, poor thing ? Hopefully you love her more, or as much as your Porsche ?

PS What about some stripes to hide it all, and a few stars maybe to match your home country? It will juuuuust about cover that “little” accident ??

Hey folks. So just have a quick question. My wife backed into my car and the bike rack on the Jeep caused a significant scrape down to the metal and minor dent(s). Insurance thinks my deductible will cover the damage (1k). Anyone ever have damage like this and what was the cost to fix? Waiting on an appointment with the body shop.

this is what I do for a living, new hood is needed, fenders need to be blended, lamps need to be removed, bumper needs to be removed, then Porsche would need to perform calibrations, post scan... If I was to take a guess, $4000-$6000.

Thank you for your answer. This is pretty much what I was told today after I had time to digest the enormity of the job and I talked with the guy at the shop. I’m glad this was very minor and no one was hurt of course and my feelings about it are truly first world problems. I just hate that this will be so involved. The quote was over $9k.

Yes ouch! That is what I was thinking too but a bit less. Had to do an Audi same...just bumper respray for minor curb rash and it was almost $4k. Once bumper is removed vehicle has to be recalibrated for safety systems. Had parking lot tap to my 992's bumper and a similar paint repair was $1600 out of my pocket! So yeah quote is a bit much...thinking $4-6k and I'd get another quote to compare. Good luck!
I cant for a minute think that would be $1000 for a reputable shop to paint and repair.....
I don't think any bodywork hardly anymore can be done for $1000.
Just IMHO........
Nope...PDR is like $250 for the smallest spots. So can't imagine that you'd get away with this repair for under $3k. New part alone will be about $2k and then paint and install and color matching (shouldn't be. problem for a good shop but one reason I am waiting a bit on an M4 CS hood for my Shakir Orange M4). So be prepared.
There’s no way that’s only $1k to repair unless your shop’s name is Maaco or Earl Scheib.
Yeah or you own a body shop or Porsche dealership.
If you're going through insurance, just get them to replace the hood. Retail is $1,851. Btw, there is only 1 hood in the US. Once that's gone, it will have to come from Germany.

Ding...ding...that is the issue there. Parts for the assembly line are in short supply so it also affects replacement/repair parts too. I'd get that one hood locked down ASAP otherwise the wait from the Fatherland may take weeks/months to secure one for your repair. Good luck.
Divorce is way more expansive.
Yes that is what they say...don;'t wish to test that proposition tho.

Yes it is amazing what is required on these modern vehicles to repair them...removal of lamps necessary yes but not sure of the bumper removal but likely to get the new hood aligned properly. But that is what you DON'T want..just cause per Porsche protocols for repair expect a nice additional charge to re-calibrate all the safety systems like ACC, Innodrive, Surround Cameras, Parking Sensors...etc.. It definitely isn't cheap...ask how I know! :(

Hi and sorry for the up. I hope that you are doing fine. Was the price($9k) definitive? It's a robbery. It seems to be that nowadays we should be familiar with welding, plumbing etc... I've purchased a welder for $400(this one) and it saved me a lot of money. Nobody wants to work less for $100
even for any small thing
I wish you all the best

It crossed my mind. Seriously though, she immediately started crying, practically hyperventilating which is very out of character so I went through my feelings quietly. ?
God bless my wife. She’s the one who pushed me to getting my dream vehicle as she stated that I “never get anything for myself”. So even if she does this inadvertently to a new Taycan, I will thank my lucky stars.

Speak to the OP. Someone hit my Audi Q7 while it was parked scratching the door and fender and leaving a little ding. Insurance estimate was $2000. Final cost after completion of repairs: $16,000. So the suggestion of $9000 for the hood on a Porsche is far from being out of the norm. Alas, with today’s vehicles, the days of bumping out the hood, sanding it and spraying it on the cheap are gone.

Remember Earl Scheib?: “I’ll paint any car for $99.95!” Not so much.

Exactly what my wife, son, and grandson said to me. It still took them 6 months to talk me into it. :)

Hey folks! Well, I am happy to say that I just returned to my office from picking up my vehicle. My gosh! 45+ days was torture. The old girl looks amazing and some kid in a Camaro tried to race me on my way back. He almost sideswiped me trying to prove a point so I let him have his fun.

Yes, the cost was $9986.96. I paid $1736.55 out of pocket in addition to my $1000 deductible. These were costs the insurance didn't want to cover.

I have to wait a month or so to redo the PPF on the front end so no road trips until I can get that squared away. I'll try to post some pics later today.

Congrats...got a rock chip on my roof today from a 18 wheeler...or road debris! Was like man...now to find the best paint chip maker on the marker for Pcars. Road debris! :(

Do those guys still exist? Yes remember those Earl Scheib paint jobs well....ah they did make it a solid color but things like good clear coat and paint depth expected of a P-car..not so much! LOL

Not concentrating (obviously)
Didnt look at the camera!
Skip not usually there (obviously)
WARNING. The sensors did NOTHING
I went back and tried to activate the sensors after by reversing slowly up to it.
Nothing!
Those sloped sides fooled the radar sensors.
I didnt realise the skip had a cloaking device like a Klingon Warship!
Invisible to radar like a Lockheed SR-71 " Blackbird "
