Hi. New member here. Been reading the forum before deciding to take the plunge. Full of great info and it helped me decide to buy a used Taycn CT 4S. Found an amazing spec car from Porsche, Guildford. They were superb to deal with, and I love the car. Glad I bought from Porsche, car comes with a three year warranty. So far I’ve had a few little niggles but Guildford have sorted quickly and without fuss. A little disappointing to have small issues on a car that only had 6k mile, but in fairness to Guildford they have been very good. Top service.

However, this noise has started last week, and it’s really bothering. To be honest I’m a little disappointed that a car with only 10k miles is creaking like this. Seems odd to me. If you can help please watch the video and let me know if you have any ideas what this could be. Dropbox link to video:

Any advice would be much appreciated before I book it in. Thanks in advance. 👍

Sadly creaks and rattles are common on the taycan. Only the price is premium.

Try to see if they will sort it out under warranty, otherwise, try moving some of the stuff arround, maybe it settles.

hard to localise, but perhaps suspension ball joint -control arm, or otherwise from your seat springs?

Hard to tell from the video. Can you qualify if this is coming from interior, trunk, or exterior driving components. We have a few known creaks that even have TSBs for them, so we can help if you can give more info about the area it is coming from.

sounds bad and obvious, a drive with a dealer tech should diagnose it? They should have a system like chassisEAR to help diagnose creaks and knocks.

Nope, my Taycan does not creak with 75k km and almost 4 y/o.
Apart from the rattle in the passenger door with Burmester on 20+.
It's rock solid and I love it. 😎

It's not me setting the standards, it's porsche :) There's a reason there are TSBs for creaks and rattles; and more than a few dozen threads on this forum.

If it were that rare for creaks and rattles to exist, porsche wouldn't have made TSBs for them ;)

Thanks for the quick response.

The boot is completely empty as is the back seat etc. The noise is 100% coming from the rear. Sounds like it is in the boot. Certainly not seat springs. Seems to be worse over uneven road. The video doesn’t do it justice, it’s louder in reality. Listen to the noise at 1:48. It’s really creaking !!

What’s a TSB, and what’s chassis EAR?

Could be as simple as the tailgate bumpstops needing some adjustment.

Check the two bag hooks (as I call them) that hold the parcel shelf in the CT are out. I’ve found if they are not out they cause a rattle in the rear boot.

My uninformed guess is the rear latch is loose. Perhaps it was adjusted at some point and then insufficiently tightened.
You could remove the rear deck/privacy shade ( its 2 pieces) to see if that is making noise, but the sound is likely too rattly for that to be the case.
It’s also possibly suspension noise or a loose rim, in which case that should be looked at immediately.

Thank you all for the advice and input. Much appreciated. I'll try the bag hooks as suggested above. However, I cannot pinpoint exactly what is causing the noise. The boot is empty, and there is no parcel shelf either, so I'm out of ideas. It's now booked in with Porsche for them to inspect it. Thanks again.

Sounds to me like rear hatch is loose, but ofc hard to tell from the video.
To adjust the rear hatch you have two catches - one on each side.
Each catch has two covers that come out very easily by pushing with a small screwdriver towards the center.

Here, I popped one out on my car real quick:

If you move it in the direction of the arrow in the middle, it causes the tailgate to be held stronger against the car's body.
