Can’t agree more. Just had a 43k battery repair that didn’t extend the warranty out. Really think they should stand behind their work especially at these absurd prices.that's poor by Porsche, a new main battery is like a new engine.
So they replaced 3 modules first, then when it didn't fix it, they replaced the entire HV battery (so all 33 modules which are in the HV battery)?Porsche fully resolved this matter under warranty by replacing cell modules 3, 18 and 27, as well as the HV battery itself.
The standard practice/terms that I've always encountered is that when the manufacturer pays for replacement under warranty, the new part inherits the balance of the original warranty or 90 (sometimes 60 or 30) days, whichever is longer. However, if you pay for the new part out of pocket, you get the full length of warranty of the new part (which is not always as long as the one which came as part of the new car, but still longer than original warranty balance).that's poor by Porsche, a new main battery is like a new engine.
Did you pay for it, or did Porsche pay as part of warranty? Can’t agree more. Just had a 43k battery repair that didn’t extend the warranty out. Really think they should stand behind their work especially at these absurd prices.
It was paid for by Porsche (covered under warranty).Did you pay for it, or did Porsche pay as part of warranty?
That's why your only got the balance of the original warranty. If you paid out of pocket, you'd get the new battery warranty. Standard terms of most warranties (not just Porsche). It was paid for by Porsche (covered under warranty).
Your lucky. I assume battery replacements cannot be financed, or at least not easily. Reminds me of a cracked windshield replacement I had on a Piper Malibu, $50K out of pocket. On bread and water for weeks! It was paid for by Porsche (covered under warranty).
lol shouldn’t be lucky still has five years of battery warranty left and two years of CPOYour lucky. I assume battery replacements cannot be financed, or at least not easily. Reminds me of a cracked windshield replacement I had on a Piper Malibu, $50K out of pocket. On bread and water for weeks!
Yes - I do intend to keep this baby 3+ more years. Still in the shop, testing completed and waiting for word from Porsche as to the remedy...Just checking to see if @Vim Schrotnock still has his.. ?
OP, the buyback was probably caused by the long time the car probably spent being serviced. If it’s offered with a solid warranty (CPO or equivalent), I’d say it’s a steal.

Wow, that is a disappointment, that the module changes did not solve the real problem. Makes me feel quite nervous now, since I have observed some anomalies in my SoH lately. Nothing special but very erratic values received.New Battery! Just got off the phone with my Dealership and they've heard back from Porsche and they will replace the entire battery. They will have an ETA on the battery arrival in the next few days. The other good news is since the battery doesn't need to be taken apart, they don't need to fly in the Battery Technician, and can put the battery in when it arrives. It's been a long odyssey, but is hopefully coming to an end with the best outcome I could have hoped for. I'll keep all posted on the timing, and what the OBD stats look like once I have the car back.![]()
