...you're most likely not going to want to fix it.

Apparently the replacement requires removing a passenger door, fender liner, etc!

Definitely not worth it to me at this time, I'll just deal with it...

By charging flap, do you mean the small cover for the two DC conductor receptacles?

It's a questionable design. You could tell by looking at it that the flap is susceptible to breaking. The idea, I guess, is to keep rain and stuff from falling into the DC sockets when passenger side AC charging. They should have made it easy to replace.

or have a plug design that doesn't require a flap…

I have an update on this...I ordered a part from eBay and it arrived today, and it looks to me it simply slides and clicks into place. And can be released with a very thin flat screwdriver.

That diagonal bit on top is what broke; it presses down when the CCS connector plugs in to release the catch.

Which part number is this?

I had the same tab break on mine and the part number is printed on the flap 4KE971904A. Looks like it's a $4 part online. Yours does not look the same though, the flap seal and the length of the tab is longer.

Removal is pretty straightforward by sliding a pick down the groove on the bottom.

@bsclywilly I ordered your part too - $4 part with $21 shipping :)

I figure I'll put whichever one matches the one I extricate...

or just have a magazine flap loader so that when one breaks, the next one easily loads. Then replacement flap cartridges can be easily loaded and purchased for a nominal fee from your local Porsche dealer.

I know what you’re thinking.

That’s just adding even more things to break.

But that’s easily solved.

How is the broken one removed? You push a pick or micro screwdriver down under the groove and then what, push up to disengage the tab?

When Porsche gets wind of this idea, they’ll offer it as a subscription service. $64/month or a one time payment of $1075. You’ll break even if you DCFC at least 20 times per month. But you might also be waiting several months without a flappy charge cover after signing up.

Push the pick in until it bottoms out then pull firmly on the flap and the assembly and pick will come out together. The groove has a bit of a ramp at the end to lift the tab without having to pry.
