Hello! Finally, I have found and purchased a Taycan (separate thread and official intro to follow).
I will not be taking delivery at the dealership, and upon delivery will have an immediate 20 hr drive home. I'd prefer I minimize setup and reading time once the car is delivered and get on the road immediately.

Can y'all give me tips or post whether there's any non- intuitive procedures for the following setup:

1. Clearing the old and creating my own driver profile. I already have a Porsche account and app

2. Car is a July 2023 purchase date, and I presume it still has the original satellite radio subscription. Is there anything I need to do to continue it?

3. What do I have to do to ensure the car is set up with the Electrify America free charging plan? How do I link it to my EA account?

4. Anything quirky for a 1st time current Gen nav user? I will use PCM's route planner and charging stops ,etc

Congrats!

You could ask the dealer to clear the car, and you should expect them to help you set up your own account/pair with the car.

TBH I don't know if the free EA charging follows the car; if it does, you wouldn't link it to your EA account; you would enroll into a new Porsche Charging subscription for your Porsche account, and link that to the car. In the app, under Account/Charging Service/Subscriptions you should see the sub it and the car's VIN if everything is set up correctly. (@whitex has had this done in advance remotely, albeit on a new purchase.) Ensure the plug & charge box is checked - (gesticulates vaguely) it's somewhere in the car's Charging menu.

Prepare for P&C not to work - or, in general, to have difficulty in either the car or EA to recognize your subscription/entitlement. I'm saying this as you may find it faster and less frustrating to just pay for your sessions. 20 hrs is, I'm guessing, a ~1k mile trip, and so 5-6 stops; 5-10min spent trying to get the authorization to charge adds up - not just in time, but aggravation. (I'm speaking from my own experience, fwiw and ymmv.) As far as I/we know, there is no way to force the car to flush a charging certificate (short of crossing a border).

Re: nav: if it's a multi-day trip, plan one day at a time. Add your destination, and be patient - it's rushing to provide a fast result, which may have you spend hours at a slow charger, so don't get freaked out. I find that the nav is deadly accurate with SoC at arrival; configure your right tube to show miles to destination and leave the center screen on the nav/map - this way you will have all of your trip data viewable at the same time: current & arrival SoC, range, distance remaining and next stop.

Good luck, have a safe trip. (Post pics, or it didn't happen.)

Thank you for the reply. Regarding adding a new Charging Subscription on my Porsche account likely requires me to add the car to my account, correct? This means I'll need to submit my evidence of ownership a few days prior into the app.

Correct; I haven't done this remotely (hence my paging whitex), and the process may be different for new cars than used ones (hence asking the dealer to clear/reset the car). Waiting until pickup to pair your phone/account with the car would suffice as "proof of possession", but you run the risk of subscription activation being slow/delayed. (Even so, it can happen that your subscription status is 'active' and charging authorization to still fail; damn certs..)

For my other cars, adding them to my account by submitting evidence of ownership was a fairly lengthy process - a few days at least (not sure how long you have until pickup).

Ask your dealer to set this up and don't drive off the lot until you are certain that the car is married to your Porsche Connect ID and that you can log into the car via the PCM. You can’t do this on your own.

Porsche Connect Services - subscribe to that including the charging service.

@W1NGE has been advising this for years. It is the single best piece of advice about what to do when taking delivery of your Taycan.
Do NOT drive off the lot until (1) you can log into the car with your own ID, and (2) you can remotely access the car from your phone with your PorscheID.
Don't let the dealer send you home without doing this. You will bounce around for days between Porsche customer no-service, and your dealer, each of whom will suggest you contact the other one.
Let your sales person know in advance of taking delivery that you will insist on the 2 steps above before you accept the car. If they need something done in advance, do it.

Fyi, there is a (relatively) recently added option in the app (under Charging, top right "gear" setting icon).

Just call Porsche's 800 number, they should be able to help you. As @WasserGKuehlt mentioned, I called them and they linked by car while it was still in Germany. I was unable to control the car's functions (that requires linking from inside of the car), but I was able to setup all the service subscriptions while the car was on the boat from Germany, which was about a month before delivery. I did this because I wanted to give Porsche/EA databases a chance to propagate, as I was planning to use a lot of EA charging in the first few days after delivery (I visited ~30 chargers over 3,500 miles in the first 9 days of my Taycan ownership, they all worked via Plug And Charge, details here if interested). It was worth it to me to lose a month of free charging in lieu of having it work as soon as I drove off the dealer's showroom. As a side note, a few months later Porsche actually adjusted my subscription start date to actual delivery date, so I ended up not losing the month of free charging after all - I didn't ask for it, it just happened automatically.

Thanks for all the tips. To clarify, I will not be taking delivery at a dealership.

So it sounds like I should at least ask the dealer to clear the outgoing driver profiles.
Question, after I connect my Porsche ID for the first time, do I need to uninstall the existing plug and charge certificate?

One other item that you didn't request, be sure to make certain that your car can charge using both AC and DC before you sign the papers. This is especially important with a 20 hr. road trip starting.

I may have missed it, but did you answer where you are taking delivery from, if not the dealer? As for EA charging, it definitely follows the car for the balance of the 3 years.

If purchased through a dealer, they probably gave you a three month Sirius XM trial and you can move an existing subscription over to the Taycan. I've done this twice and the original subscription continues to run after the trial expires.

Congrats on your purchase.

Okay got it, the XM was only a 3 months promo. I'll look for a free trial promo for the road trip and then transfer my existing from my old car when I get home.

My car is a 6 months old since on service date.

Dealer is delivering it to a friend's place for storage until I can get to the car. Out of the country.

I recently (3 weeks ago) got a Taycan not from the dealer (Lease transfer).
The previous owner is a friend.
I erased his profile and on a computer (for whatever reason works better than on the phone) send the paperwork to porsche to show proof of ownership. The account was activated in 48 hrs and I was able to link the car to me. It was easy and required no phone calls.

Hope that heps

Thanks for this. You described removing a prior profile and adding your profile.

Do you recall how the free EA charging subscription plan migrated to your account? And do you recall uninstalling any certificates?

I'm not concerned about activating Plug and Charge, more so just to ensure I can get free EA charging. Thanks
