I know the MK pain all too well. Cars that should be on the 50kw BP chargers, sat on ionity wasting everyone's time. The ionity chargers should be able to recognise the car that's trying to hook upto them, and then kick off the ones that can not handle the juice ?I can't wait for Leicester to open. I use MK and it's getting worse and worse. I end up waiting for longer than i need a quick 5 mins charge to get home. It's now full of Polestars who have a discount rate with IONITY. People also have no concept of charging above 85% at a public charger and how ineffiecient it is. So frustrating that they only have 4 chargers.
Sadly people won’t as they have the great big discount on IONITY so not likely to use the many BP empty chargers sitting idle !I know the MK pain all too well. MK has no real facilities to encourage that but given IONITY are part owned by Porsche, Mercedes and BMW you would expect them to keep the passport scheme more exclusive. I know BMW also gave a BP offer on their cars too.Like you say, Ionity are at fault (to a point). Don't discount tariffs to car manufacturers / models that are not really suited to using them.
But ultimately manufacturers need to shift cars and discounted charging is an incentive for new customers.
Also there has to be a change in mindset. Fast chargers are for a quick top up, not a chance for you and your family to have a 5 course greggs supper and be away from your car for 1.5 hrs.
Genesis had a discounted rate of 24p/kwh so that was ideal for me. I'd charge at 232Kw for ten-fifteen mins and be on my way.MK has no real facilities to encourage that but given IONITY are part owned by Porsche, Mercedes and BMW you would expect them to keep the passport scheme more exclusive. Ultimately IONITY want to maximise their income so they work out the offers with the car retailers.
Strictly speaking it's the VW Group, not just Porsche, and it also includes Ford and Hyundai.MK has no real facilities to encourage that but given IONITY are part owned by Porsche, Mercedes and BMW you would expect them to keep the passport scheme more exclusive. Its ok, we can always use public transport (HS2).Like all these developments - they are London and South East Centric. Very little development north of Leeds...........
Just been informed that Skelton Lakes will be getting 18 more IONITY charging bays (10 x ABB + 4 x dual-head Alpitronic HYC-400's) - so 24 bays in total like the others above.Like all these developments - they are London and South East Centric. Very little development north of Leeds...........
