Hello from Canada. New to the forum, CT4S scheduled for Sept delivery. Very excited.
Firstly thanks to the people of this forum for the great advice and in depth analysis of everything Taycan. Selected the on board 150Kw/400V DC charger just in time lol.

Question I have is choosing an EVSE epsecially after the recent news of Ford/GM adopting the NACS standard and the uncertainty of what direction things will go in. I've read the 12 page thread on this and while I'm somewhat reassured I'm not sure what strategy to employ for my choice of EVSE.

Specifically looking for 3rd party EVSE, 60 amp hardwired unit for garage charinging (first EV but eventually others to follow)

Questions:

-Smart vs Dumb EVSE: Is the My Porsche app and in-car charging profile sufficiently user friendly and functional to forego a smart EVSE (i.e. ChargePoint Flex) and get something like Emporia? or is the My Porsche app not good enough without a smart charger?

-Tesla J-1772 charger. Marketed as a smart Wifi enabled with power sharing capability on website but reviews say different:. Just a dumb charger.. Anyone using this charger with experience to share?

Thanks for your insight and welcom any comments for new owner.

State of Charge youtube, in case you have not watched it: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdX0BJNon1c6GfOdeS3pyDw
In my opinion a "smart", "connected", EVSE is not necessary, but many come that way, whether you want it or not. If you get internet connected EVSE, ensure your garage has adequate wifi signal.

My Taycan has the 22.2 kW AC charger (only good for 19.2 in North America), so I opted for the Porsche Wall Charger for my EVSE. It delivers 19.2 kW to the car on a 100 amp circuit (240 volts at 80 amps). Complete overkill, but charges the car most nights in less than 2 hours. If you want the fastest charging option, this is the way to go. It's also come in handy when I forgot to charge and needed to go a long distance. I can just plug in while getting ready to leave and get over one mile range per minute. Note: check that your house can even accommodate 80 amps. My old house had 60 amps for the entire home. My current house has dual 200-amp service connections.
