Looks very similar to mine. You cannot see the crack looking at the roof from outside the car.
porsche have accepted liability and ordered a replacement, which was due to be fixed next week but this has been delayed as they don’t have the part,so has been pushed back a month.

As you say, you are going to have to push Porsche warranty and no doubt get your insurance company to do the same in respect of liability, as I am sure they will not wish to have to pay out on this.
Did you get yours repaired yet? Still waiting for the replacement to come into dealer at the moment.

im curious to see if it moves - use a sharpie and draw a line across it - monitor that for movement. or a thin dab of paint to see if it breaks it - will tell you how much stress its under.

Hi

this is a fascinating thread and so timely. My CT Turbo S has just had the same thing. Here are some details and I’d appreciate any thoughts…

Car delivered 1st March 2022. Supplied with black roof bars (in error, should have been silver) with glass pano roof. The roof bars were changed at Porsche’s cost 3rd to 6th May. This was done at the UK dealer.

The car has now done 3,714 miles and the cracks appeared last Friday during a 240 mile journey.

I attach some photos, but the cracks are across the width of the roof right near the back. It’s at the dealer next week so they can assess whether it’s a warranty claim or "…it has been caused by an outside influence…" (dealer’s words).

I have washed and eyeballed the roof. The crack appears to be entirely internal to the glass with no feature visible or felt on the surface of the glass.

Thanks for posting folks. Hope you guys get a satisfactory 'no quibble' solution from Porsche. Its a bit worrying for those with a pano-roof on order.

@MY22PCT Think that’s now four of us with cars delivered at a similar time, with roof rails and cracked internal laminate layer and nothing on the external glass. Does yours have the same external raises as mine I posted near the rear roof rails (possible over torque on rails, or may just be a bad batch from their supplier). Mine seems to have lasted the shortest time, 120 miles when mine went. 1700 miles since and no change to the crack, nothing external and fully watertight.

The information I was given by Porsche it that they believe that the screws under the roof bars may be too long hence the cracks on the roof.
i am still waiting for a replacement and have asked if I wanted to change it to the new roof retro fit , if it’s possible and the costs of the same.
At the moment Porsche are saying can only replace like for like. Computer doesnt like changes!
Waiting for response?

That would actually make sense tbh, given zero external glass issue. On such small margins can a ?-up occur! I’m happy with the standard Pano, just hope it arrives soon as 7 weeks on now. Pointed out that it doesn’t really affect me too much, barring having to explain to anyone who gets in the car. However for each new person who sees it then doesn’t look like the high precision, high cost yet high value they like to project as a brand ?.

That’s interesting. I’m still waiting for some sense from Porsche. I’ve finally persuaded the dealer (Porsche Solihull) to refer mine to Porsche GB as I’ve refused to accept it’s an insurance claim. Good news is they seemed to think the lead time for ordering is 2 weeks but I’m sceptical. The bad news is I’m still cruising around in the ‘premier hire car’ they promised - a Skoda Karoq!!

Ok, think got to the bottom of this. Looking at the car today, there is now clear warping of the laminate around the roof rails. This is on both sides at the rear, and the crack originates from that area on one side. Actually, it started on the side showing the least warping.

For further validation, the one other person I know who has seen this on a UK FB forum has said his originated from the front roof rail side though don't know if he has as obvious distortion yet. Looks like the robot in the factory must have been having an angry day affixing the rails..... I've passed onto my Porsche centre to hopefully help with root cause (and to make sure my new roof doesn't immediately do this again).

Hi

again, this is really useful.

I can see a slight rise at all 4 roof rail fixings. The glass seems to be set into a close fitting rubber seal which at first glance looks like a chamfered edge to the glass. This is slightly distorted at all rail fixings - photo of 1 attached.

The crack is definitely in the internal layer since I can’t feel anything on either external face.

it may not be clear from my first photos of the crack, but it is a single crack from the driver’s side, forward of the rear rail fixing. It then travels backwards to roughly centre of the back edge.

Update from todays visit to original Porsche dealer…

They’ve now inspected the pano glass roof and can’t find any external or internal marks. Just the internal crack so their conclusion: “…no outside factors…”.

Now referred it to Porsche Germany. Due to hear this week.

don't beat yourself ups about it. it could be that the size/tolerances for the panoramic roof were slightly out of line, or something as simple as a rubber seal that isn't fully inserted in the factory and therefore putting pressure on the glass so at the first sign of stress, temperature whatever it cracks. The good news is that Porsche and others have been making panoramic roofs for a long time and most of us have had trouble free panoramic roofs so it is just a matter of Porsche ordering a replacement glass roof, checking the installation and you'll be off with a permanent fix

Positive update for me. Porsche now accepted it’s a warranty issue. They reckon 2 more weeks for new roof which would mean 5 weeks in total since it happened. They still have the car and don’t recommend me driving it. This is now massively on Porsche’s radar so don’t take any BS from them if they try to blame you!
