New "manual" tab is showing up for me on iOS.

IMG_0116.PNG

And while the table of contents doesn't look very exhaustive – compared to the "Good To Know" app:

When you click into the search bar – it seems to have most of the content there:

Most odd as you have a MY21 car too.

So.no go on iPad OS or Android it seems (UK at least).

The new display is in the central tube of the digital cockpit display from what I gather and is less of a torque display and more of a cutaway diagram with the power flow shown.

Original was ok but the replacement sounds worse potentially.
That is what I feared.
That display on my original demo was genuinely interesting to me, as an engineer.
Most of the features aren't :)

How many apps does it take to operate a Taycan (in the US)? (MyPorsche, Porsche Connect, Good to Know, Porsche NA, Electrify America, ChargePoint, EVgo, ABRP, PlugShare, home EVSE app, others?)

cf. your favorite "how many to screw in a lightbulb" joke.

Shame they don't provide options / choices for each item to be displayed. The AWD display has been the same in the Macan, Cayenne, Panamera and until now the Taycan.

Only need one (My Porsche app) , but having ChargePoint can be handy (or at least one of their RFID cards in the car). I also have an EVgo card for the same reason - don't use often, but good to have in a pinch. I wish more networks were like EA and accepted credit cards at the charger though - that is how it should be. Nobody would accept having to have special accounts and cards/apps for pumping gas, so I don't see why charging networks think it is acceptable to require it.

Got my car back today after dropping it off last Wednesday. My service rep said it was taking longer than they had expected. He mentioned issues getting reliably connected to the servers?

Initial Observations:
  • I noticed the infotainment settings reset, so I had to re-pair my phone, re-add the auto-lift coming up to my driveway, and luckily I didn't have radio presets.
  • Happy to have Spotify built-in, it was signed in automatically from My Porsche and Android auto available.
  • I did have an issue where we stopped to pick up some drinks. The wife ran out to grab the order and I waited in the car. The seatbelt warning came on and we thought it was for her. It didn't go back off until I un-buckled and re-buckled.
  • The overall interface does feel more responsive as well.
  • I missed having the torque distribution dial on the left gauge.
  • I feel that the speed indicator moved down slightly and easier to see from under the steering wheel. Same for the time and estimated arrival. Could also just be me sitting differently.
  • Car feels slightly more responsive, at the very least the wife commented about the feeling of torque.

Well, I got my car back from the uPdate after 6 days (including the weekend, when the tech does not work). Since the PCM was always very responsive, I didn't notice any changes there. The one I was looking forward to the most was the backup camera display, which I saw some nice pictures on here, but mine is still looks like a POS. You can see from the pic below how narrow the driveway looks, and how close my yellow 911 looks to mine when it's actually is 15' away. If my son's car was parked on the driveway on the right lane, it would look like it's right behind mine and I would collide with it if I back my car out. Obviously, that's the case as there's a good 4ft between them. The top view on the left is no better. I can't make out that picture at all even though I know my garage. The color tiles don't look any better than the original grey ones either, but not any worse. My wife doesn't care for the new look though. Still love the Taycan, and it's still the best vehicle we've ever owned.

Car was updated today.

Most of my settings remained.
Only thing i noticed were Suspension lift locations were erased.
Android Auto required me to unpair my phone and then repair it.

One flaw of the software is the native spotify app and android auto app seem to fight over which app is playing music.
I'll play though spotify app and the coordination of tracks vs actual music, seems to be displaying incorrect information, and then I'll get a notification that another service is in control (referring to AA). I click on AA app and the track display and music is coordinated. Nothing i can't deal with, but clumsy. I guess since AA is wireless, I have no need for the native spotify app anyway.

Got the update as well as recalls, new tires today. Everything seemed to have saved (haven't tried smart lift ).I did have to delete my iphone and re-add to get wireless carplay to work again. It was also in Privacy mode so once I disabled that, everything else seemed to work.

One thing I noticed for my homelink, maybe someone else mentioned it already, in addition to the pop up changing, but also if you close it and are in the same location, the icon pops up in the lower right corner and you can still select it.

I think I can free up my diamond button now that I had it previously mapped as a backup since it took a couple menu presses to get to it.

Any change in the range / miles per KW?

Hi all,

Based in the UK and just had our 'Update to software network VR19.0.1. Campaign number WNJ8' done. I dropped the car in yesterday and picked it up today as the dealer said it is taking roughly 6 hours to do and to test and most have had a few issues on the way. Mine luckily went through smoothly.

If you see my thread here: Login is not possible at present , I was having all sorts of issues with account login and the Porsche Connect after picking it up a few weeks ago. As a result the dealer booked my car in quickly for the update which they hoped would resolve most of the issues.

Main things I've noticed straight away:
  • Interface seems much smoother, less lag between button presses. Screen real estate seems more too - not sure why this is but must be due to the icon spacing?
  • Dynamic lighting seems pretty cool for the ambient lighting - it seems to select the colour based on album art? I can confirm it works from the inbuilt Radio, Spotify and also CarPlay.
  • Spotify integration - my car didn't have this previously so is a good add. Some people report its slower than the CarPlay version but mine seems to be fast, its just the actual song load takes a second or two.
  • One strange thing I have noticed is I have lost access to 'Comfort access'. The car I have wasn't actually spec'd with this, but I did notice that if I came close to the car while it was unlocked, the door handles would present themselves without me pressing any buttons. There are similar threads on here about this happening with non-comfort access cars which show similar behaviour after certain updates. You couldn't lock the car however by pressing on the sensor on the handle, presumably because this hadn't been fitted.
Maybe it was a bug which they have now closed down? I'm not sure if i'm happy or sad about losing this as to me it did seem like a security concern due to the many relay thefts that happen in the UK, but at the same time it was a nice feature to have without having to fumble around for the keys when you get to the car.
  • I lost quite a few settings which I add to redo once update was done. This included pairing my phone again with the car and connecting wireless CarPlay. Door settings had to be redone as it was only unlocking driver door, but I prefer to open them all at once. It seemed like only the seat settings were the ones unaffected.
  • Android Auto is now present which wasn't there before
  • Range has increased - I have the base Taycan with Performance Battery. Before on full charge it would show a range of between 210 - 230 miles depending on temperature, but now consistently shows 270 miles plus. Will obviously have to test this out in the real world!
I have comfort access. After update it does not work when approaching car overnight. If I have used the car recently, like running into a store quick, it works when approaching the car.

AND the ‘close trunk door and lock’ button does not close the trunk door. It closes halfway and stops. Have to use the key to get it back up and then press the ‘close’ button. Then lock car with key.

My phone app stopped working and this morning PCNA told me it would not start again until I got the uPdate so I told the dealer to load the uPdate.

Thanks for the detailing your experience. I also took delivery of a 4S in September 2020, but have not yet had the uPdate. What magic words did you use with your service writer to get them to perform the uPdate on your 2020? My service writer said my VIN is not included in the ANA6 recall, therefore no uPdate for me. My appointment for other service is a couple weeks away, so I still have time to try to fix this.
Hi @Genau , I would assume that you are entitled to the uPdate regardless of whether your car is on the ANA6 list. I took delivery of my 4S in the first half of October 2020, so shortly after you got yours, and my dealer was more than happy to schedule an uPdate appointment.
