For those wondering, this is a new recall: ARA4 (confirmed faulty modules) and ARA5 (unconfirmed faulty modules). Likely ARA4 takes priority right now, and ARA5 range will be expended later.

Mine has also been recalled; and not even a week after it actually started smoking from right side front of the wheel vent while pre-heating towards a charger (actual smelling smoke). Bit unfortunate.
In the re-call letter, it says to absolutely not charge over 80% until serviced.

I called my service that the car will be delivered to them and have been told quite a lot are called back

I just took mine in and they are doing: WLP8, WNK7, ARA4, APB6

When i had it in in January they couldnt’ get parts for WNK7, and then i got notice on WLP8 (heater)

And said a brand new one ARA4 is now being done.

22 CT4

I don’t think they have the parts for the APB6 yet.

It says letters go out May 17 infomring affected users. Is there any way to tell prior to that if we're impacted? Is it everyone?
Not that I have been able to tell. I asked Porsche NA and my SE.

My ‘20 4S was in May 8th for the heater recall replacement and AR4A was listed on the dealer invoice upon pickup. But at that time the dealer didn’t have any repair instructions from Porsche North America. It’s a “wait and see and we’ll let you know.”

From: ARA4 Recall Notice:
Description of Remedy Program: As an interim remedy, the owner notification letter will advise that affected vehicles should only be charged to a maximum of 80% of the battery capacity.
The affected modules in the high-voltage battery will be replaced.
The owner notification letter will advise that Porsche offers a reimbursement for pre-notification remedies in accordance with 49 CFR §573.13.

ARA4 = HV battery modules may short circuit "which can lead to thermal events and in some cases fires."
Interim remedy = charge to max 80% (and it'll be fine).
Full remedy = affected modules will be replaced (when? wait and see and we'll let you know).

Have a good day.

Heavy stuff, but it seems they are really trying to fix everything in a systematic manner. Still not great news ofcourse. Wondering if there is any way in checking which (of this vast list of) recalls apply to your own specific vehicle in the Netherlands, similar to the system with the letters and numbers (ie. ARA4) in the USA?

I really hope that they are sure that only the modules they classify as affected really are the only ones. With the amount of work hours going into this process you start to wonder if full battery replacement might be a cheaper option for them...

I didn't find it here in Denmark. I called the dealer and they listed the active recalls for my car for me.

The recalls names are the same world wide. As mention earlier in the thread, mine was called into service with ARA4 recall, in Switzerland.

They are first doing the cars that they know for sure have this problem (ARA4), which is a few hundred apparently worldwide... likely more; and then they will do the cars that they suspect they might have problems (ARA5), which will be a lot more.

Guess I will have to ask my Porsche dealer about these recalls next time we speak.

Thanks, I did not know it was the same worldwide. Read that you had a recall, just not that it was the ARA4.
