I tried the Tesla Supercharger in Scotts Valley, CA yesterday. Quite an elegant solution for the adapter problem. Worked the first time, way better than EA. Other than the short cable, everything else was fine.

So back to the Lift issue, when I returned to the same hiking trailhead yesterday, since I was in Normal drive mode (which I almost always am when I get back into local driving), I was pleased that the Taycan lifted itself.
Even though of course going through the menu would not have been a big deal, since by definition Lift mode is at low speeds.
Did you know that you can lift the car by pressing the touch button on the instrument cluster (dedicated button, no menus, always there, not programmable to be anything else)?

Ah, thanks for the reminder -- I had noticed that previously, then forgotten about it by the time I realized that I actually had good uses for the Lift function at hiking trailhead, some ski area parking lots, and Magic Docks.
I'm still not used to the instrument cluster having touch functionality!

if you tap on "charge your non-Telsa" the next screen _IS_ the map/search - magicDock enabled sites will show up as a "Red" map-pins like the one listed below in Scotts Valley - you can pin/zoom the map to find other locations or use the search field…
The strangest placement of a Magic Dock has got to be this one, in Forks, WA. (Well, not that strange, it’s an essential stop for any EVs attempting to round the Olympic peninsula.) Hopefully I can test it soon..

After My experience yesterday where a piece of plastic in my charge port prevented charging, I decided I owed the Magic Dock another try.

I decided to go back out to Fort Worth after work - this time with a healthy SoC to get me anywhere (including back home) if needed.

I specifically used the exact same stall I attempted yesterday.

I have to say I came away extremely impressed.
It. Worked. Flawlessly.

Managing the app and starting the charge was simple.
The dock was easy to handle.
Even the charging itself started faster, ran quieter and with less drama than an EA charge.

If I were road tripping, I would rather pay for these Superchargers than use EA's for free.

That being said, there -are- a couple things that could be improved.
  1. The cables are very short. I was able to use a trailer pull-through spot that worked perfectly, but if that wasn't there I would have had to straddle two spots to make it reach.
  2. Porsche's GPS seems to have no knowledge of these chargers, so I wasn't able to precondition the battery. My SoC was too high for a full-speed charge anyway so it wasn't a deal breaker, and I still got 106kW proving my 150kW/400V upgrade is working.

There is nothing to purchase; you simply have to visit a Tesla supercharger that is equipped with the adapter. You should also prepare by downloading the Tesla app, and setting up your account, credit card info, etc. That way when you arrive you can pull up to the stall and be ready to go. Note that a VERY small number of locations actually have this MagicDock.

@derek can give you tips when using a Magic Dock about how to avoid breaking the Taycan port cover and jamming it into the port. ;)
Nope! I don't know how it happened nor how to prevent it, it's a crappy part.

But it's cheap and easy to replace.
