Curious why people harp on the software and infotainment. I get in my car and drive, maybe throw the navigation on, rarely need to dive into menus. If they made a Taycan with no screens and just a HUD, I'd take that. Same with our R1S, the extend of screen use is just to switch the suspension from soft to medium on occasion.
I’m on the exact same page as you! I get in,
Plug in my phone, start my music (after listening to my car take off) and I’m in my “ear to ear grin mode”! 😍

Well this true about the camera, but like everything else you get used to it. I have the 360 with the top down so usually use that when it tight spots. I was also just commenting about infotainment/software from a general standpoint. I personally would never consider a Tesla.
I just picked up a new 2025 yesterday. The image for backup is so much better than 2022, it looks normal and not distorted. I heard there is no hardware difference between J1 and J1.2, so hopefully Porsche will push newer firmware to J1 in the future.

I had a 25 loaner and honestly didn't even notice, should have paid more attention. The fish eye for cross traffic is great either way.

The regen is pathetic. There's a 'recuperation' on and off, but even when on, you can hardly notice it at all and means you're braking literally at every junction.
Hit the left pedal, you will get much more regen than any Tesla before the latest Model Y- up to ~5x more. Tesla brake pedals (again, until latest Y) is physical brake. Taycan brake pedal is blended braking, i.e. brake-by-wire. Taycan maxes out ~290kW for regen, Teslas are ~60kW (at least the 4 which I owned).

even my old model s non plaid will kill the taycan in straight line races.
If drag racing is what you want, you have an option to go for Taycan Turbo GT - guaranteed to beat all of your old Model S. A Turbo in lauch mode (no mods), or even a GTS with an aftermarket tune probably will too.

I’ve never been in any other EV/sports car/sedan/Rocket that accelerates like a Tesla PLAID S not just from a dig, but from even from 60-120.
From a standstill you're pretty much traction limited, so even a Taycan GTS will keep up with a Plaid 0-20mph. Beyond that you will need higher trims of the Taycan and/or aftermarket mods to keep up.

Are you talking about gen 1 or gen 2 two cars?
0-20
Thx 4 the chuckle
Maybe they’ll start testing that dynamic

New gen 2 Taycan 2025………not any earlier model 2020-2024
My neighbor has a P100D 2017 that’s faster than my 2021 Taycan turbo in 1/4 mile and 0/60 dynamics.

Model S is not a bad drivers car. I fall in love with MS back in 2014 because it drives like a Panamera, way better than any Mercedes and BMW sedens in my price range. Since Porsche didn't offer EV back in 2014, I bought my first Tesla.

Taycan J1.1 Turbo S had a 7:33:25 time at Nurburgring in 2022, Plaid was 7:35:579. I'm aware Taycan Turbo GT achieved 7:07.55 in 2024. Yes, Taycan is better, but doesn't mean an near stock version of MS Plaid is a bad drivers car.

Please don't tell me to go back to Tesla, this is not a marriage. I can have both legally.
I had 4 Model S'es since 2013. They were great cars. I would have had a Plaid as the fifth while waiting for the Taycan, but worsening service experience (e.g. Tesla warranty refusing to cover yellowing displays in a less than a year old Model S), the cheapened interior (e.g. fake leather) and primarily stalkless yoke (which was the only option when Plaid came out), is what finished my Tesla streak.

That said, they make really usable, functional cars. If looking for a utilitarian EV that is easy and intuitive to use, I would still recommend them. Both my parents my mother-in-law drive Teslas and love them.

Both generations GTS+ have sufficient power to be traction limited 0-20. Of course for Turbo GT you have to go J1.2. A tuned J1.1 GTS (or higher) will match or beat Ludicrous Mode Tesla 0-60, as would untuned J1.1 Turbo S in launch control.

I’m not disagreeing that when you take a ‘sharp bend’ the taycan is better. What I’m saying is that the Tesla is a much nicer drive for 99% of my driving. I love how the Tesla comes to a stop without touching the brake pedal.

I’m sure I’ll get used to having to brake again much more frequently.

First world issues I know.
There is no such thing as "best car for everyone" - best car is always relative "for whom, for what kind of usage". It sounds like you should have stuck with Tesla, perhaps look into swapping out your Taycan, if the "Tesla is a much nicer drive for 99% of your driving". I am not trying be defensive od snippy here, I mean it - if it was me, I would absolutely choose a car which satisfied 99% of my driving needs the better than other cars. Different people have different driving needs and preferences, so different cars will be best for them.

My wife’s 9000 lb Hummer 3X will be neck and neck with my Turbo till about 75-80 mph….. had both on track about 2 hours ago. 2 plaids were at the airstrip last week…….. it was ugly for anyone running against them in 1/4 1/2 mile runs from digs. The hummer is incredible off the line in watts 2 freedom mode, especially for a 9000 pound vehicle

On a 1/4 mile-track it's one thing realizing max accelleration on sticky surface, track-mode enabled and warm battery.
My P-Teslas from 2015 until 2023 never reached their numbers in every-day life.
My Taycan does. Just need warm tires and soc above 60%.

Quoting from Motor Trend magazine's initial test of the Plaid:

"Even more impressive and true to Tesla's word, the Plaid is capable of posting those (acceleration) times consistently, never varying by more than a fraction of a second....We've never tested a car so robotic in its consistency."

"On Southern California's famed Angeles Crest Highway, the Model S Plaid demonstrates Tesla learned a lot since its flagship car first hit the road. Although maybe not as pin-drop precise as is the Porsche Taycan Turbo S on the same road, the Model S Plaid is Tesla's most compelling performance car yet."

"Regardless of how much you care about acceleration numbers and how they're achieved, perhaps the most important takeaway is that the Model S Plaid is absolutely among the best cars on the market today."
