I must have gotten the golden egg. I haven't experienced any of that. 200 recalls yes, and a couple times in 3 years I've gotten a keep you hands on the wheel alert. Our R1S on the other hand has had a few more significant issues - very poor panel alignment (fixed), but software-wise, PAAK stopped working because an OTA failed in the middle of an update and the module didn't fully update.

When I bought the Taycan I drove a Model S.

I absolutely hated the sluggish uninspired feel, despite being fast on paper.

This was before the S refresh that happened a few years ago. I haven’t tried it since then.

For all those who say the software doesn’t bother them, please can you tell me how to lock my car with the key and not have the car immediately unlock because the key is in my hand and within a metre of the car??

Then tell me the software doesn’t bother them.
I literally did this today because I got the OTA notice for ARB6. O got out of the car, locked using key fob, and then walked away. The car didn’t unlock itself. It stayed locked as expected. So no, I don’t hate the software. It’s a combination of good, bad, and ugly at times but my car mostly behaves itself properly.

Also, when the car does unlock itself if I happen to walk by again with my key fob in my pocket, it will automatically lock itself again after 60 seconds as long as nobody opens a door. I found this out at a car show. It was a nice surprise since it does not retract the side mirrors when it locks again. This is great so that people can take photos of the car while it’s locked and still have the side mirrors in an extended position.

Just lock the car and walk away not sure what the problem is. If you happen to walk up to the car again it will unlock but if you don’t get in it auto locks. .

Sorry but that just doesn’t work. I exit the car, press the lock button on the key, it locks, and then immediately opens as I’m still at the car.

it’s not a one off. It does it every time!

As for pressing the door handle, that’s a poor solution and not a nice experience at all.

Whats wrong with walking away and it locking like most other keyless entry systems are.

This is just one example of many poor software ‘features’ the Taycan has.

I know I’m on a Taycan forum, and having just bought one myself I don’t like critiquing my new car, but it is flawed with poor software and for those who say they don’t notice them, it’s maybe because you’ve come from a car which wasn’t perfect from a software POV, and having come from a Tesla Model S, I can notice them a lot!

Have to say this has never happened to me. I have had numerous Taycans and this has not occurred. This seems to be a huge non issue. As even if it did unlock it will lock by itself if you don’t open the door.

Not even sure why you would take the extra step of taking the key out of your pocket to lock it when you can just put your finger in the handle. You can always just lock the car from farther away too.

the Taycan has many problems and faults this is not one of them.

Your car is malfunctioning. Make the dealer fix it.

I know you’re no longer in the market, but the pre- and post-refresh Model S are VERY different to drive.

Coming from 2 @ Model 3Ps, I also would never have purchased a pre-refresh S.

I was curious to try it again after the refresh, but…

Build quality on most of the new model S and model three have improved significantly. There are a ton of high-end vehicles that also have issues with panels. When I own mine, I never had one issue and I know at least five or six other plaid / MS/M3 owners that experienced the same.
I love my turbo Taycan mostly for the aesthetics . Lucid I owned has had the worst panel gaps.

In reality, body panel alignment means *nothing* in the overall context of owning and driving a car.

If panel alignment is key to your happiness though, you definitely shouldn’t buy a Tesla (or a Ferrari apparently)…

my 2 cent:
I wanted a car what is quick like a Tesla plaid or Lucid sapphire.
I don't trusted lucid -because I dont would know where to find the next service center in case sorting is happend and I saw some videos about panel and roof inside coming down.
No Tesla - I have some personal issues with this.
So porsche was left - so I got a Turbo GT

for me buying a car is on one side driving quality ( air suspension from my GT is the best ride I ever had) - build quality ( my BMW M8 was better) and Brand name ( like I wrote above - I have some issues with Tesla)

Word. Panel gaps in the McLaren 720S are so wide my phone can fall through them (and never be recovered). And still, I drool over that car each time I see one.
