Yes, here is referred to the early years sensitivity from Tesla to overheated batteries.
I could drive 250 for 2-3 minutes with my P85D in 2016.
Then I couldn't accelerate beyond 215-220 for 10 minutes until the battery cooled down again.
Tesla got ahead of that problem.
That doesn't change my statement before, though.

Anyway: a Plaid is a fine car! I just like my TS CT better for everything it is.
porsche got me away from Tesla after 10 years and all models.

IMO it does, based on my test drive of an LR and now owning a Plaid.

It’s possible that some portion of the perceived difference may be due to the fact that the LR I drove was on the OEM 19” wheels and tires, while my Plaid is on 21s…

The Plaid is never going to be the last word in driving feel, especially compared to a Taycan…

Yeah the LR I test drove compared to the Taycan is a night and day difference. The S isn't bad for cruising around, but the Taycan feels like a proper sports car in a lot of ways while the S is more insulated. The one pedal driving took some getting used to, and I'd prefer the traditional feel of the Taycan pedals.

The S is still in the running as a backup plan in case they crank the Taycan prices up even further next year.

Curious why people harp on the software and infotainment. I get in my car and drive, maybe throw the navigation on, rarely need to dive into menus. If they made a Taycan with no screens and just a HUD, I'd take that. Same with our R1S, the extend of screen use is just to switch the suspension from soft to medium on occasion.

Sport seats were actually added in late calendar 2024, but the comment about the upgraded brakes is accurate, as my ‘23 has them.

The Plaid is somewhat of a blunt instrument compared to a Taycan, but for daily driving, it offers a compelling list of virtues.

If drag racing is what you want, you have an option to go for Taycan Turbo GT - guaranteed to beat all of your old Model S. A Turbo in lauch mode (no mods), or even a GTS with an aftermarket tune probably will too.

I don't want to drag race, its just nice to have all that extra power on tap when i want to go fast. I was merely stating a fact . My tesla s kills the Porsche in the power department. and the basic auto pilot kills the Porsche . i upgraded to alc through the Porsche app and it still does not come close to tesla. I don't have the funds for a turbo gt. All that being said , I still love my Taycan much more than my tesla . its my daily driver while the s sits at my vacation home. Perhaps I'll look into a tune after its out of warranty in 4 years.

I wonder if it has some kind of improved torque vectoring with the two motors in the rear vs the single in the LR.

I really wish Savagegeese would do a video on one, because they actually get into the engineering of the cars. Looking up plaid reviews on YouTube nets either superficial stuff, drag racing, or pure AIslop.

Yes, of course the Plaid’s 3-motor setup enables much more precise and accurate torque vectoring.

Plaid can also corner at more than 1 G, and of course it’s quicker/faster than anything else on the market that’s less than $240K…

You can get a J1.2 Taycan 4/4S for around $100k and it's pretty similar in a straight line with our tune.

Used cars are a always different story, but in any case a used Plaid could be had for $50-60K, and it would have factory battery and powertrain warranty to 10 years/150K miles from the in-service date…

You can get a new one with fairly decent spec for 130-140k.
The Taycan is way more advanced and better built - HD Matrix LED (EU), Night Vision, Massage seats with a lot more adjustment, RAS, Burmester, Real Leather, HUD, Much more comfortable suspension, PAR and so on.

Oh and, you get stalks, a proper steering wheel, Android Auto and Apple Carplay.

You're comparing an econobox with vinyl seats to a Porsche, just don't. Apart from the powertrain there is absolutely nothing good about the Tesla. Different cars with different amenities for people with very different wallets.

Oh and finally, what can you customize on the Tesla? Nothing. So it doesn't matter if it's new or used, because there's only color and wheels. Whereas with the Porsche you can change the colour and material of almost every little thing if you desire, down to the stitching on every seat and panel. Does it cost a lot extra? Yes. Do I care? No - I can buy several new Taycans for the price of my Yacht.

I understand price difference, but the Sapphire is a better Plaid. It also uses the 2 rear motors for toque vectoring.

You can get an understanding of the Porsches approach, which includes RAS and why it's better.

I always remove the EV drivetrain and compare the cars beyond commoditized horse power.

It was a nice surprise since it does not retract the side mirrors when it locks again. This is great so that people can take photos of the car while it’s locked and still have the side mirrors in an extended position.

Or your kids open wife’s SUV’s rear door and hit Taycan’s mirror every-time, because mirror’s did not retract back. On the bright side as soon as you lock your Taycan you know you have 45 miliseconds to run away from the car so it does not unlock and open the mirrors again, which trains you well for a time bomb situation for the future. I am convinced that was the thinking in Porsche SW engineers’ mind when refusing to add that 1 simple additional line of code that would just say “if the driver just touched the door handle and locked the car, his presence in cars proximity within the next 2 seconds probably is not because he changed his mind and want to go back in the car again, and maybe because most normal drivers are not trying to break a 100m record right after locking their car?” Love how taycan drives feels. SW is absolute rubbish, way behind bmw and others (let alone Tesla).
