Not sure if I’m missing something - but have Porsche removed charging profiles/timers with the newer cars/software? I’ve recently got a 25 CT Turbo and was looking to get it to charge in the Octopus cheap power time slot (23:30 - 05:30). I can’t find anyway to do that in the car - just departure timing.

Annoyingly the car doesn’t seem to like the charger scheduling either - our EQA is fine with it - but if we plug the Taycan in it doesn’t seem to accept the “waiting” mode from the charger and if a charge doesn’t start within a few minutes of being plugged in it errors out (red light on the car and “charging not possible). It charges fine with a manual charge if started quickly enough!

Timers and profiles are as they were since MY20.

Profile and timer can be set to manage the target charge, preferred charging window and departure time but remember when using a 3rd party app and EVSE you may run into conflicts - don't mix and match.

Suspect you just need to disable all Porsche profiles and timers and let your Octopus service manage things.

I use OVO ChargeAnytime but the principle is the same as Octopus.

Use the Octopus App to control the charging session and not the Porsche App or PCM managed timers and profiles.

Your EVSE (must have a Smart Meter too) must be compatible with Octopus but read the instructions etc.

Search the forum but this topic has been covered in detail.

In the MyPorsche app I don’t have any options for timers/profiles - just Departures - and there’s nothing obvious in the car’s Charge settings either (unless that’s moved?).

Not got a 25 but the error you’re seeing in the car when the charger isn’t sending charge is correct. Once the charger hits the charge time and starts sending charge the car will turn green.

100% the way to do what you want is to plug in the car and control the timings via the charger.

Do you have the Porsche Connect services active - there are several and at least one relates to charging?

Check your Owners manual but it appears you are missing some features in the app.

It could be that MY25 has simplified things - the slider control is new for example.

Your online manual via the app will be tailored to your car so check there first.

Ah, just tested that and that does appear to be the case - I'm used to the EQA which very explicitly goes into a "charging paused" mode, the Porsche app/Taycan itself were giving very much "things have gone wrong" vibes with the red lights and messages. Thanks!

Yeah, services active. The manual only mentions departure timers as well so I did think it was looking like they'd changed the features - but thought I'd check here as it seemed an odd thing to change (timers in particular). Octopus don't support the 25MY Taycan yet either (quite possibly related to the move away from Profiles) but thankfully it looks like the schedule via the charger will work.

if you’re on Octopus Intelligent Go then I’d recommend starting with Octopus controlling the charger. It’s a much more logical process and easier to control.

as you’ve found the Taycan thinks it knows best, for everything, and anything outside of the bounds of what it thinks is best is wrong!

Perhaps it's implied in the slider when you set the charge level? What happens if you tap the centre of the slider?

Annoying if profiles have been removed as you could have a location dependent profile as well as a regular one which can be used to auto select when at multi home charging locations.

They have kept the location side of things in the Departures setting - and that led me to have another dig as there’s an “Optimised Charging” option in there (although the description doesn’t seem to help much - I haven’t found anywhere to enter electricity prices for example and the manual seems to suggest that’ll need extra kit). However if you set that to manual it does then let you specify a preferred charge window. This doesn’t seem anywhere near as clear as the previous system (and the manual really is not clear either) but it looks as though the functionality is there at least.

The optimised charging relates to the additional Porsche Home Energy Manager (HEM) equipment
eor quivalent. This enables the use of dual power sources for charging (grid and solar) and is also where pricing information can be entered.

Preferred Charging times is where you want to be and is part of the original profile setup.

My guess is that if not using your Octopus controlled setup then the profile is now to simply slide the bar on the battery display to set the minimum charge and then set your preferred timing window. The departure element is part of the timer and let's you set 'ready by' along with cabin preheat / cooling.

Annoying that owner's manual is model year specific otherwise I could stop guessing.

I’ve just changed to IOG, but car “won’t request charge” or says charging complete if no profile set. If I don’t set profile or timer, it just sits there even tho Octopus trying to charge it

I have two profiles set, no timers. One profile is location independent, 100%. The second is set to home location, 85%. Both turned on.

Is IOG controlling the car or the charger? I have it controlling the charger so with those profiles it all works.
