Did the MY25 Taycan battery go to CATL too or just Macan EV?

There are less technical details about the battery and vendor than posted on J1 platform.

Didn't change to LFP, still NMC (same as Macan).

The battery pack sees the most significant changes. Porsche switched to a Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) 811 chemistry—which means eight parts nickel to one part manganese to one part cobalt—from NMC 712 chemistry. What that means, if you’re not a chemistry expert, is more energy density.

Let's hope this changed battery chemistry won't be a repeat of problems in batteries originally used in 2020 Taycans.

Both the new Macan EV and the J.2 Taycan use NMC 811 chemistry.

The J.2 Taycan uses pouch cells manufactured by LG

The new Macan EV uses prismatic cells manufactured by CATL

I don't have direct knowledge of the internal discussions at Porsche, but my suspicion is they are less than happy with the quality issues they experienced with LG in the J.1, but the cost to redesign the pack to work with CATL prismatic cells could not be justified for J.2.

(CATL does not make pouch cells)

Seems like a logical explanation. I am not super keen on LG batteries or pouches… but mostly just unfounded fear on my part.
