Hello All,

Set up my new Flex in minutes.
Had read all the threads on this board by current Chargepoint owners saying the best way to charge is to forego the Chargepoint's scheduling and strictly use the car's onboard General profile.

Set my car to 85%, plugged in, verified that I had nothing set on Chargepoint and went to bed.
Wake up, check the car, it blasted right through to 100%.
Thoughts? TIA

external EVSE's (like the chargepoint) can _NOT_ force the car to charge - when/how much is 100% under control of the vehicle _NOT_ the EVSE - the only thing the external EVSE can do is pretend to be offline during for scheduling reasons so that the car can't charge when it wants to…

I'd carefully review your timers/profiles in the PCM/Vehicle - charging the battery is 100% under the vehicle's control, not the EVSE - the EVSE simply a dumb on/off switch to let power flow or not-flow - how much and how long to charge is the vehicle's sole decision…

As stated above. @Ducs are you sure you don't have a (*edit not profile) timer set in addition, or accidentally checked direct charging for your car?

Hi,

Looking at the images you do not have Timer set (box to the right is not checked), this would set the max SoC e.g. 85% but in it absence charge will go to 100%. The profile just appears to have preferred charging times selected.
From above I guess that within your preferred charging times you reached 100% SoC.

yeah - your timer is not "selected" (check box unchecked) that's why your car charged to 100%

EVSE's DO NOT CONTROL CHARGING - they are simply sophisticated on/off switches under control of the vehicle - the Taycan and it's onboard software/charger is what charges your battery - to charge the battery it toggles the on/off switch on your ChargePoint flex - the car's settings dictate how much the battery is charged and when the battery is charged - the external EVSE can not control any of that…

saying my Chargepoint flex over charged my battery is like saying your water faucet overwatered your flowers…the water faucet simply lets water flow/not-flow - it was your irrigation timer that overwatered your flowers.

blame Porsche for their overly complex charging settings - they really really made it much harder than necessary and a bit obtuse.

No it was checked. I went in to edit this morning to make sure nothing else was wrong and unchecked it on the way out of the menu.

Unfortunately it was checked last night. I merely unchecked it this morning when I went in to verify the rest of the settings.

then something else with the car's charge settings is why you charged to 100%

what does the lower center screen show with the battery graphic when you're plugged in to your ChargePoint.

the solution to your problem lies in this video - Porsche made the Taycan's charging control setting too complex/obtuse - they are not at all straight forward…Porsche's video below is _EXCELLENT_ and well worth your time.

it's your timer/profile settings - not your ChargePoint flex that is charging your vehicle to 100%

When I plugged in last night it said "85% General" on the lower screen when I set it up.

FWIW, when I set up my Chargepoint home flex, Myporsche app froze for 12 hours. I reset my phone, reinstalled the app and played with my car settings. The chargepoint app showed my car was charging to my baseline of 60% and by the next day everything had rectified. It was peculiar, and likely coincidental, but still hard to ignore. After that, my car has charged per my profile as also discussed by others above.

Thanks. But in this scenarIo I set the profile on the car itself. I did not use the Porsche app at all.

I thought that the AUTEL EVSE can be timed to charge at a certin time. I'll look again.
