Porsche EVSE - manufacturing screw up??????This has got to be some kind of manufacturing screw up... what possible use-case or rational explanation is there for having the plug point in the wrong direction?
Unlikely... but maybe it can be rotated (without twisting the whole thing around) or something?
that plug is facing the wall isn’t it ? Even plugged in upside down.Porsche EVSE - manufacturing screw up??????

It's not a Porsche manufacturing screw up. Peeps in North America just don't know to plug things in right.
Good catch! Yep, something is wrong with that receptacle. Wonder if it isn't a Hubbell. Not that the OP asked, but I would be more concerned over what appears to be the melting of the NEMA 14-50 receptacle. The middle left looks compromised.
@FlyingPoint good catch - it's not a hubble socket - should be upgraded/replaced with Hubble socket as Porsche requires/recommends…Not that the OP asked, but I would be more concerned over what appears to be the melting of the NEMA 14-50 receptacle. The middle left looks compromised.
Porsche may not admit it but it is definitely a mistake in assembly at the factory (or in China)…Anyone have a new charger cable from Porsche? The plug on mine points away from the wall, and they’re trying to tell me that itis OK to twist a 220 V cord to make it fit. And they replaced it because they were worried about causing fires?![]()
other posters/forum members have stated it's 8 AWG noted on the cable. That's ... disappointing. So on another topic, what does the cable and/or labels say about the AWG? I'm going to guess same AWG, just with a temp sensor in the plug?
And yes, please don't use it until you put in a new Hubbell socket.
did you already take care of that? https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/t...e-evse-pmc-pmcc-pwcc.13886/page-5#post-317428@daveo4EV Your latest update to 'ultimate guide to PMC+/PMCC' thread is overdue.....![]()
I just checked my original 2021 non-recall cable - and it has the same orientation as the cable in the picture above…based on that this is nothing "new". In my case it always required a twist when using it with a wall mount.Anyone have a new charger cable from Porsche?
