Dude.....read my original post one more time. You were claiming that you can just ‘tweak the ecu’ to create a GTS. It’s not the case.
And yet it wouldn’t have some of the other attributes that the GTS has. So I’m still not sure of your point.Dude.....read my original post one more time.
It's not a claim, it's fact (unless the GTS has different suspension part #s). GTS suspension hardware is the same as the other variants. ZERO difference. A 4S, Turbo, Turbo S can have GTS SUSPENSION all with just the change of the suspension ECU programming. Never did I claim a 4S can now be a GTS.
If we were talking about traditional springs and dampers with regard to "GTS tuning", this thread jack wouldn't have happened in the place.
my point is that a 4S may suit many people better than GTS as the so called additional ‘attributes’ are not liked by many… and add little to the car. 4S has 4wd and air suspension and is way quick enough for most in real world motoring. And yet it wouldn’t have some of the other attributes that the GTS has. You could buy a Turbo and have the ECU tweaked to make it like a Turbo S. And?
Same as GTSBut it's just mediocre air suspension!
I’m not sure it’s in doubt, that some people might prefer a more sporty car than others. That’s exactly why the GTS exists, to be the sportiest set up of the Taycan range. For those that do want a sportier set-up, the different settings for suspension, rear axle steering etc add an awful lot!my point is that a 4S may suit many people better than GTS as the so called additional ‘attributes’ are not liked by many… and add little to the car. 4S has 4wd and air suspension and is way quick enough for most in real world motoring.
but it isn’t… as posted it adds little to 4S for many and it certainly isn’t Turbo/Turbo S, it’s just another model!!I’m not sure it’s in doubt, that some people might prefer a more sporty car than others. That’s exactly why the GTS exists, to be the sportiest set up of the Taycan range.
Porsche say it’s the sportiest set up of the range. What do you know that they don’t? it seems as though you are confusing sportiest with fastest. And whether other people might prefer a 4S is irrelevant, however it’s certainly true that other models in the range may suit other people better, friending on their requirements.but it isn’t… as posted it adds little to 4S for many and it certainly isn’t Turbo/Turbo S, it’s just another model!!
But they do also provide justification for the claims.Agreed but Porsche marketing types say a lot of things!
Yes!OP was asking for opinions and I hope mine have been helpful.
Many pundits testing the cars for real suggest the 4S is the sweet spot in the range. Porsche marketing claim all sorts of things 290 mile+ range etc etc.. I’m assuming you have a GTS ??But they do also provide justification for the claims.
Yes!
Finally enough many other pundits suggest the GTS is the sweet spot, it just depends what your priorities are! Many pundits testing the cars for real suggest the 4S is the sweet spot in the range. Porsche marketing claim all sorts of things 290 mile+ range etc etc.. I’m assuming you have a GTS ??
Indeed. I have driven both and don’t see how GTS offers sportier handling . My 4S on 21in offers everything a GTS offers in my opinion and that of many others. Not wishing to be argumentative as both are good cars but I Had a long chat with Porsche experience day driver who couldn’t tell the difference either. The big thing for sportier handling are the 21in wheels and Sport mode 4wd and air suspension. All based on driving both. Different situation with 992 ICE cars ( I have one) where the GTS does appear to handle better but very harsh ride. Finally enough many other pundits suggest the GTS is the sweet sport, it just depends what your priorities are! I imagine that for day-to-day use the 4S will meet the requirements of most people.
The GTS is set up to be the sportiest car in the Taycan range - not sure why you'd argue otherwise - that doesn't necessarily make it the best car in the range or the sweet spot or the best value or anything else.
I have ordered a GTS as my focus is more towards sportier handling. Other people have made different choices to suit their own preferences.
Do you know for sure the dampers are the same and the base charge pressure in the air system is the same?Dude.....read my original post one more time.

Apart from the different suspension settings and the different calibration of the rear wheel steering, amongst other things?Indeed. I have driven both and don’t see how GTS offers sportier handling . My 4S on 21in offers everything a GTS offers.
No, suspension setting and RAS are important too. Adding bigger wheels doesn't make a car sportier.Had a long chat with Porsche experience day driver who couldn’t tell the difference either.
