Sorry if this is a little naive but I'm no tech expert.
To get the best out of owning the Taycan (collecting my T4SST on 23rd June) do I need to upgrade from my modest Motorola G7 Power to an iPhone to have more memory for all the apps I'll need and to link with My Porsche and CarPlay?

Thanks
David

I don’t know why the apps would be a problem and you should have android auto to use instead of car play.

You might get a better experience with a phone upgrade, but I would wait until you get your car and see if the current phone will do what you want it to do. If not, look at the upgrade options. If it works fine, no need to splash out on a new iPhone.

You'll only need 1 Porsche App and possibly a couple of 3rd party apps for charging locations.

Apple Music is built into the car so need (really) to go Apple iPhone. Spotify is also native in new cars.

If you don't use carplay today then again no need. Android auto will be available if you need anything over and above what you get from the PCM - can't think of anything.

So yeah, wait and see.

Hey Dave, I am far from being a techie as well, but consider this practical advice: the iPhone 13 Mini, with a standard size protective/rubber case, fits perfectly/lies flat on the Taycan center console. My last iPhone would fly off the console during even modest maneuvering -- until I stuck velcro on both the console's little Taycan badge and the back of my old iPhone to keep everything settled. There just isn't a good place to lay down your phone other than the center console. Some folks like to install elaborate phone holders/chargers, but those mods/work-arounds present other issues. I found it was just easier to buy a phone that fit the car than to modify the car to fit the phone. With the iPhone Mini (which isn't mini at all unless compared to the "phablets" that some people use), I was finally able to remove the velcro.

Side bar for non-Apple-non-techies: In my experience, Apple products/operating systems, unlike Porsche's OS, always work seamlessly together and are auto-magically updated OTA. Once you get over the mental barrier of paying $30 for $2 Made-in-China proprietary Apple charging cables , etc., there is no good reason for non-techies to mess with clunky android products.

I use both Android and Apple.

Android is not 'clunky' at all.

Just sayin'

I'm sorry, I did not mean to imply that Android products, in and of themselves, did not function as well as Apple products. The point was that Apple's products always work, always integrate effortlessly and always play nice together. For impatient non-techies such as me, I really appreciate the fact that using Apple products is so brain-dead simple. (Kind of like using the Tesla supercharging network vs. what we are up against with EA, Chargepoint, etc.)

Xiaomi 12. Just bought. Excellent phone and importantly smaller. Mobile phone size inflation has been a bugbear of mine.
