I would guess/speculate it sync's up the North American PMCC changes - which are probably support for a thermal sensor in the power supply cords (if present) and any minor bugs fixes or updates (maybe some changes to prepare for Macan EV? or update the cloud protocols for charger statistics) - without release notes we have no idea

looping in @AndiL who has been helpful in the past

Actually it may also enhance My Porsche app as I can now export all charging history since 2020 to PDF whereas I couldn't export anything recently

Yeah its quite nifty and reports per vehicle so I can see the data for my first Taycan and now second.

My PMCC has never been able to authenticate with the Porsche server to provide charging history to the My Porsche app. The dealer applied an update then told me this functionality had been deprecated. I didn’t bother pursuing It.

They clearly didn't have a clue!

I would factory reset your PMCC and start over. Mine has worked as intended since Nov'2020.

Data transfer has had a wobble with the recent updates to the app but prior to that charging data has always been accessible from either the web client or mobile app. Web client has been deprecated in recent months.

I had PCM-Connect problems on my first Cayenne that took 3 different dealers to fix. The second to fail was the Reading HQ. Apparently Porsche were having a mare with Configuration Management and getting all the different PCM sw and hw versions all working at the same time.

When first installing the Taycan PMCC last year I tried umpteen resets, multiple different local networks and followed the manual to connect to its local IP address via a browser to get the required QR code to link to My Porsche. All to no end. Later after receiving a sw update notification I asked my local dealer to apply it. They said theyd completed that and had successfully integrated It. It came back just as it was before. I then got the supplying dealer to look it along with some other stuff before the makers warranty expired. They said they’d raised a ticket and were told the feature had been withdrawn. Other more important stuff not always working was a higher priority so I let it go. The restricted operation authentication error on the PMCC screen every time i plug in does‘nt affect charging. I hate to give up on solving a problem but sometimes you just have to let it go!

Did you try connecting via the hotspot rather than WiFi for the local browser (what ip address did you use?)?

Yep. Also tried hotspots.
If I recall correctly I found the allocated address for the device visible on my network, following guidance in the PMCC manual.
Clearly you also don’t like to have to give up!

My conclusion was that there must be a back end LDAP or similar server data problem that no one knew how to fix.
When I got the car at 2.5 years old the PMCC was unused. I thought maybe the device sw had become unupdateable because of version gaps, or a server data inconsistency had been introduced via an update.

I am that terrier!

There have been very few updates and I think only 1 prior to this week's in the last couple of years.

From memory the initial issue is the the PMCC expects be on a 10.x.x.x network and I'm guessing your home network is 192.x.x.x and if so the default has to be updated directly on the PMCC.

Once connected you can then alter the default address and assign a static IP if preferred from your router or just let DNS do its thing.

There is a certificate issue but if you ignore the warnings from your browser you can bypass and get to the login screen.

If Porsche have been through all of this with you then fine but I find it most odd that for a non Porsche manufactured £1200 EVSE that basic QA steps would have been missed.
