Hmmm... it seems this video glossed over at least one major part - how does the screen connect to the PCM? The video only says to connect power to the screen, which I am certain is not sufficient.

Could be, if your goal is to use Android apps, for sure, if you want to have the passenger control the car, it can’t!

my Macan EV loaner has the passenger display. I'm glad I'm able to test it out on a loaner as I initially conceded in not having this option when I purchased my Taycan. I have to say this option is more of a party trick and have low practical functionality. My wife who sits in the passenger seat intuitively still operates the center PCM from the passenger seat.

The only functional benefit of the display was with the j1.1. where by the driver was able to see the screen, thereby allowing the driver to initially (driver couldn't configure the screen while driving) set up a preferred dual screen. Perhaps on a road trip, I wanted trip data, location, cockpit data and/or media info combinations on the passenger screen, while center PCM is just for navigation. This is the only use case for me. On a j1.2 and the Macan EV, the driver cannot even see the screen.

Given this 3rd party version essentially functions as a standalone bluetooth connected screen, the only benefit of it is to control media and standalone navigation. The PCM integration is more important to me. Pass.

This video is useful in showing how the trim piece is disassembled and screen is assembled into the trim. Maybe it's useful for an OEM retrofit if someone has figured out how to code the new part.

I like the passenger display to show the car's navigation while I keep Waze on the main PCM screen. I do that when road-tripping, have to use the car's nav to preheat the battery. Also, when my daughter wants to look for music on Spotify, she can do it on her own screen so I don't lose my nav.

That's right, it's easy to install — takes about 30 minutes. The overall performance is very fast, even faster than the PCM
With SIM card support, there's no need to use a mobile hotspot.

I dont really like these Chinese screens on modern cars. They look totally off. You can install factory screen too. Its not that hard and I'll be doing it after retrofit rear steering rack to my car.

Overall you'll need double screen, new passenger side plastic trim, and wiring. I'm not sure about wiring yet, there will be at least 2 things - video signal wire with round connector and regular connector with can bus, power, etc

I am not 100% sure, but suspect you might need a new PCM as well, one which has the additional connection for the passenger screen.

No, there's just 1 variant of PCM and it has enough ports. It also has connection for rear climate screen too, not just passenger screen. But cables to connect seem to be different, I'm not sure yet which one you need to connect passenger, screen. But I saw someone sells wiring kit to connect 2nd screen

This is interesting. As per parts catalog, they seem to have just one variant. Are you sure one of those PCMs not from audi or other similar VAG car?

That yellow connector - for android auto

I checked wiring diagram and seem like passenger screen connects to climate control screen(central), not to PCM directly. So central console screen needs also to be replaced because there are 2 different options, and only one has 2 connectors(one in, one out to passenger screen)

Here's on photo one 2nd connector is physically missing, making it unable to connect passenger screen
