I’ve been asked by a couple of people to share more details on the dashcam self install so here goes.

the dashcam I installed was a nextbase 4K 622W as per : https://www.nextbase.com/en-gb/dash-cams/622gw-dash-cam/

The front camera is 4k @ 30fps or 1440 @ 60fps pr 1080p@120fps

it then has 2 accessories you can select from, cabin camera, rear camera attached to front camera or a rear window mounted camera (that’s what I went for)

installation took about 30 minutes but that was taking my time around getting the wires completely hidden, I went fora usb powered connection rather than hard wired.

anyway, you cannot see the camera at all from the drivers side as it’s mounted right behind the rear view mirror,

a couple of pictures attached and tried to show the power via the green route and yellow to connect to rear camera. but happy to take questions.

Thank you very much for this info. All the collective images, experiences and information from fellow owners is really helpful.

In your install its the last image and its interplay with airbags that I have a question.

Looking at the document that Porsche has provided to aid emergency services have you any concern around there your yellow and green wires meet impeding the airbag that is "under/behind" your cabling?

I can see the appeal as it probably means less trim on the A-pillar to be removed, but just wondering if you've considered the airbags in that area?

From looking at recent posts, you've done a neater install than Porsche themselves!

Hi @tigerbalm, the green wire on the last picture is just inside the plastic cover, it will have no impact at all on the airbag and is just literally behind the panel.

worst case the air bag goes off and it snaps the cable, the airbag would definitely be hampered based on the force.
