My 2022 Taycan was delivered to me yesterday. I love the car, but only upon taking delivery and not before, my salesman casually said "oh because of the chip shortage we can only send you one key, but whenever Porsche sends us a second key we'll send it to you".
I told the salesman I'm very concerned, what happens if I'm out and about and the key falls out of my pocket without me noticing. His response: "oh in that case we'll send you a new key". I pointed out the absurdity of that statement, in other words, does he expect me to wait a couple of weeks to get a replacement key while meanwhile my car is sitting locked and unattended in an unprotected parking lot??? I also told him that because he's saying that they will get me a second key if I lose the first, that I expect the dealership to send it to me RIGHT NOW, and that the dealership and/or Porsche will pay the cost. The salesman said he's pass it on to management, so far I've heard nothing. I just sent an email to Porsche USA outlining my complaint, so we'll see what happens. And by the way, if Porsche simply had the ability like BMW to put a digital key into the Apple Wallet, then this would be zero issue and I'd happily just have one physical key.
It's OUTRAGEOUS AND GALLING that I spend $120,000 on a car and I only get one key, particularly when the salesman admitted that he can get me a second key if I lose the first one.
Not a happy customer and I'm certainly not feeling love for the Porsche brand at this moment.
