Panoramic Roof With Variable Light Control

Anyone know what this option costs and if it can be added to my 22 Taycan? I would expect it will be expensive since the entire glass roof and the wiring would need to change.
I'm just trying to block the sun a bit over the driver & passenger seats when we drive from OC to Las Vegas during the day when the sun gets very intense.
Any suggestions?

My salesman in Monterey referred me to an excellent service shop to add an interior sun blocking tint coating. I chose a 95% version and am delighted with it for reducing heat and protecting my bald head.

Some people on here have mentioned a clip-in sun shade, which I could imaging would be around 500x cheaper than retrofitting VLC

I got my new GTS ST with VLC in October last year - I think it’s been non stop rain and cloud ever since. Looking forward to some form of sun to see how effective it is!

What did you pay to install the sun blocking tint film on the inside of the roof.

Replacing the plain one is a 14K affair, so I'm guessing it's much cheaper to sell your car and find one with the feature.

Thanks, this may work for the occasional long drive to Las Vegas during the day when is over 100 outside. I'll check it out.

Has this already been an issue for you or something you are preparing for? I feel the heat from the windshield far more than anything through the glass roof when driving in Florida sunshine.

There are mesh shades that actually clip in for use while driving - discussed in another thread somewhere - but I don't know whether they fit the sedan.

we used to make that drive 9 times a year. Do you and the family also stop in Barstow at the In n Out? ?

i doubt it would be practical to do what you want. For what it’s worth, we specced my wife's CT with the UV reducing glass and the VLC roof and we have zero issues with heat. So it does work fwiw. Good luck and let us know what you end up doing.

So … not an answer directly …… but my 4S was in for battery module replacement lately and I had a 2024 loaner with this sunroof variable screen option……
I drive back and forth from CDM to Indian wells at least twice a month …. Not summer temps in the 100’s but it was in the 80s … and IMHO it made no or negligible difference in the cabin.

Yes, but it's not so much about the heat but the high intensity of the light coming in through the roof. I think getting a darker film installed would be ideal, just like sunglasses for the roof. Too bad they don't make a film which does what my eyeglasses do to get darker in bright sunlight.
I may try the shade first so I have an option when the sun is just too much.

Thanks Jim, I was hoping someone had used one of these shades and been happy with it. I don't want to make the interior look cheap by adding something that doesn't fit well.

Do you have brand info and some photos? I'd possibly prefer a clip in versus window film.
