Greetings all,

I haven’t been on in a bit. I just came back from a fantastic road trip to Tail of the Dragon (this car absolutely blew my mind with its performance in the twisties) which I’d love to chat with you guys about in another thread. Anywho, with the facelifted Cayenne out and about, does anyone know if Taycan will be receiving any of those snazzy new PCM features for those of us that have the passenger display? The wife would love to watch her Netflix on long road trips. Hope you all are doing well and enjoying your cars!

I'd love it but the new Cayenne also has a physical display "filter" to avoid "off angle" viewing - unless there is a retro-fit of this physical filter for the passenger display on the Taycan I do not foresee Porsche releasing "video streaming" support for Taycan…

maybe: for the .2 refresh the Cayenne's passenger display will be the version for Taycan
maybe: for the Taycan - video streaming support while vehicle is stationary - while charging for example

the best we can hope for is parity with Cayenne PCM for .2 refresh along with teh improved passenger display hardware that prevents off-angle viewing...

that's my $0.02

https://jalopnik.com/2024-porsche-c...iver’s point of view, minimizing distractions.

Porsche has partnered with Screenhits TV to provide in-car streaming service, letting you watch TV shows or movies on the 2024 Cayenne’s dashboard — but only when the vehicle is parked. Equally important, the passenger-side screen is masked so that it can’t be seen from the driver’s point of view, minimizing distractions.
we might get the "stationary" feature set…we'll see but I wouldn't hold my breath.

If you use android auto just hack it. 10 min job on a rooted android (to watch on pcm. No idea about passenger screen)

I can watch most streaming services including my cable TV's streaming app. Of course the passenger looks at it while I drive. I only watch it while charging.

Unfortunately I’m an apple guy. Sounds like that would be super handy at the charger though!

Could always buy a rooted android just for that and keep it in the car.

Or put videos onto a USB stick, though of course that doesn't help much if you want to watch Netflix.

I’ve seen Beemers in China that allow the chauffeurs to watch TV while waiting. And yes , expensive cars and chauffeurs in Beijing!

Would you be able to point me at any info on how to do this? Thanks in advance.

Search for fermata auto (YouTube, movies and several streaming services)and screen2auto (mirrors your phone screen and audio to pcm so basically whatever runs on your phone, will be displayed on pcm like my cable TV app , Netflix, hbo, etc. Also tried with some web based streaming services and it worked). Cartube also works (alternative for YouTube if fermata isn't your liking). You might want to explore the XDA Developer Forum on tips on how to install all the above apps (some are with magisk modules, other are with helper apps).

Good luck ?

Do you have a link to a tutorial how to hack?

As I said initially, yeah you need to be rooted. There are some claims out there that it is possible to do it without being rooted but I haven't tried it (I root all my phones as soon as I buy them anyway to debloat and remove unwanted stuff). Fermata Auto for example installs a magisk module so that it appears in Android Auto. Magisk = root

However, I've also tried AAAD (Android Auto Apps Downloader) and I'm fairly certain it didn't asked me for root access to install apps. YMMV

I usually only focus on articles/posts on XDA-Developers Forum. I don't trust youtube videos. Hope that helps.
