Just wondering how many people like a PIN CODE to drive the car. Just for added security. It was great feature we request from Tesla in early days. Is there a way to make a feature request from Porsche?

OP, what situation are you thinking about where a PIN is a must have?

Nope, no desire to have this feature.

Yes definitely. The added security is great (car thefts are through the roof in my area). It would a nice option to have (something that can be turned on or off)

Hate the idea, another level of un-needed complexity before I can drive.

There might be some merit to the idea if you could use a PIN code instead of using your key. But as a form of two-factor authentication, I don't think I would actually use it.

It's bad enough having to carry around the "security token" as well as the key already.

When you select a drive mode or press Break at that point it ask for your 4 digit pin 4. No one can use the car even if they take the car away by lifting it. You can always reset the code via my Porsche profile or app. Its an option where you have it enabled or disabled .

At the moment I disable easy access at night for a extra peace of mind. If the pin was enabled I wouldn't care as no one can drive the car even if they open it remotely.

No thank you. Had it available on all my Teslas and never used it. Too many possible new problems with it vs. benefits. Having seen people having issues with it on their Teslas, when the MCU had issues it would lock them out, even prevent charging for some reason, I definitely would not want to see this in a Porsche which has worse software capabilities than Tesla, flaky cloud service (it's been in and out for last 2 weeks worldwide for example), no meaningful OTA - so any bugs with it people would be stuck with for a year or more (about how often software updates come from Porsche), like the random alarm triggering which was plaguing owners for many, many months. At as it stands today, when the PCM hangs, you can still drive the Taycan just fine, just no infotainment or app access (but HVAC controls still work).

The only valid usecase I saw for the PIN was the fob relay attacks. Tesla eliminated that with the NFC card as a key, and mostly eliminated the it in the "phone as key" scenario. For Taycan owners who worry about it, I suggest putting the keys in an Faraday cage enclosure or bag when storing keys in the house, simple and effective solution. If you really wanted to, you could add a switch to the fob battery, or build in an immobilizer (e.g. cut off the gear switch) unless you hit some hidden switch or enter a code into you phone app.

I work in cybersecurity so I am more paranoid than most, but I also know that there are always trade-off to security measures and diminishing returns on over-securing things. I don't boot all 4 of my car's tires when I park, even though I know for a fact it would make it much harder to steal, nor do I chain the car to the building. I would never set the PIN on my car as it would have been an additional inconvenience when it worked, and a potential dangerous situation when it malfunctions (I road trip sometimes, don't want to get stuck in the middle of a state park because PCM wouldn't boot on me, which by the way has happened to me in the past). Given Porsche software history, I would worry it would automatically activate itself like the privacy mode does randomly.

I have a Ghost 2 fitted, that requires you to enter a sequence of button presses when you enter the car. This is for added security, however, I have a tiny fob that I carry so I do not have to enter it every time. The pin can be anything from 4 - 21 buttons.

Appreciate that is not for everyone, but I had an RR SVR before and live just outside London!!

With cars getting stolen - even EVs I would like to have the option
