I have an EA station close to home, so I charge my Taycan 21 RWD there time to time.
Plug and charge had been working well for a while, and today I got a 'payment denied` message.
Tried again, and the station didn't even recognize the plug and charge (no `initializing charge` message)

I tried to reset the charging setting and so but no avail.
Interestingly, I was able to start charging by the NA app without turning off the plug and charge option.

Later a gentleman with 4S came, and he was also back and forth between the car and charger as I left the station...

FYI, my charing NA app is missing the history of today's charing.

I've planned a long roadtrip this weekend, and I'm worried now because some stations may not have good cell phone coverage.

Welcome to the hell hole that is of Porsche and the EA charging station.

ive Been out of town the past month and go back to my taycan on Tuesday and dreading hoping the EA stations work. I hated it so much trying to deal with them.

actually I am glad to see that this happened to you.
Why?
because I just had new software that "fixed" my charging issues with EA units and yesterday was my first try at using an EA charger.

I plugged in and like you payment declined, I was able to get the charger to start with the EA app,
apparently this is a widespread EA issue and now that I see others having the same issue I can hope that the "fix" from porsche actually helped.

I hope that EA gets their act together real soon.

funny you mention this...mine was working after the update almost 80% of the time and lately I have had to use the app every time......of which, that now only seems to connect and 'unlock' about 70% of the time.
I am even getting the charging station to acknowledge that I unlocked it to charge from the app, it starts charging....but the app itself still shows an error in unlocking it.
as I stated in another thread...."they need to re-engineer the entire software ecosystem from the bottom up, including all apps...full stop."
Honestly! Take a look at this board.....there are so many quirks across so many functions/applications of the ecosystem that any submitting of a change-control request for a fix, most likely will have a cascade effect and it actually cause 2-3 more issues! Next update should be a completely new version and skip the incremental fixes. We need a new first number and not a new number after the "." (dot).

I got the error message as well but the car charged, and that is all that matters to me

Same issue here.....Plug n' Charge NOT working at 350Kw EA station in Chicopee, MA and Stamford, CT - Frustrating!!

Just wondering, in desperation and frustration and in the interest of charging your Taycan and getting back on the road!, if you swipe your credit card and pay the exorbitant "rack rate" charging fee - how does one get reimbursed for this annoyance?

also funny you mention this, as I thought the same thing....however, the last two times I was at EA in September, I had two new EV owners (one Volvo and one Leaf) and both times they asked me how to pay with a credit card as they didn't have the app yet. Well, I watched them hop around to all the stations, the Volvo got connected and the Leaf left in what appears to be frustration.

So, I am not sure that swiping a card would be any faster as it seems to be having the same intermittent issues.

They need to flash them all, reinstall updated software and have them have a dedicated link to the main HQ with fast/er connections. Six months ago, I would have said "it can only get better", haha, but that has proven to be false and has retrograded in many instances.

Luckily, Plug and charged worked fine in my road trip yesterday. The only issue was the 350kw charger only gave 120kw-ish.

Something new every time I visit the same local EA charger: first two visits, plug&charge worked, with ~100kW charging rate requested and delivered. Next visit, plug&charge doesn't do anything, rather than call EA I decide to pay $9 for 30min. 100kW again. Today, no plug&charge, but thanks to a fellow forum member I had downloaded the Charging NA app, and that worked to start charging - but only at ~50kW :swear: from lower SOC than before. Ok, whatever, still 30min of free charging. Then, new one at this charger, the plug doesn't release. After pressing the button a number of times, light turns from white to red :swear:, no dice. Fortunately, even if not "reset" the emergency release in the fender/door gap works. Sigh.

Still better than the fellow EA victim one stall over, who's ID.4 was parked at the charger when I arrived and who was still on the phone with EA when I left.

OTOH, the beautiful Gentian blue 4s that arrived a few min after I me didn't seem to have any problems.

Unfortunately, I find this to be all too true! I often go to one of three different EA stations and for a while, I used a certain stall that I had good luck with. Now, that one gives me trouble and the one that used to not work for me, now works. It is a crap shoot every time I pull up.....something needs to be done with VW/Porsche for their software at EA and the cars OS.

I had the same issue.

I went to an EA station that I have used in the past successfully and this time the plug and charge did not happen. It would ask for payment and then shut down. I call EA Support and they had me activate the station through the Porsche connect app and it worked. She did not understand how the plug and charge worked but was able to walk me through the app.

I have yet to go back and try it again to see if it was a one time issue or will this become the norm. Frustrating.

A (somewhat) related question regarding Plug & Charge.

Has anyone successfully “Plugged & Charged” outside of their home country? My Canadian Taycan cannot Plug and Charge when travelling in the US - I get the same “Payment Declined” message as in the previous posts and have to disable P&C and initiate the charging session manually. However it works fine at home in Canada.

how many EA chargers did you visit?
I ask because not all EA chargers are plug and charge capable so it might be that is what you've encountered.
