PMCC software update this morning??

It only works if the power cable distance between the PLC modem in your household and the PMCC device is not too long. Didn't work for me either in the beginning because of that. After installing the PLC modem in the garage itself, while being connected via Ethernet cable to the household installation, it works. I guess (!!) the distance may not be longer than about 20 meters. The PLC modem in the PMCC might not such a strong signal as usual household PLC modems, because of regulation reasons as the PMCC is connected to the vehicle as well.

It's not distance related (may be wrong) - just needs to be on the same mains ring and a synced adapter at either end.

I use WiFi.

It won't work if they are on different rings - logical outcome given how the tech works. Not had an issue on distance but the standard limit for distance is 200 metres for powerline Comms.

Maybe theres a terminology issue here for me regarding what you mean with "rings".

In 3 phase scenarios (e.g. here in Germany) what matters is anything behind the grid connection. The PMCC connects to all physical phase connections, and if the PLC modem is behind the same grid connection it will just work if the distance is not too long. The signal strength of the PMCC`s modem is lower than usual household modems.

For testing I connected two household modems, one in the garage and one in the house, it just works. Now tried the same with the PMCC in the garage and the PLC modem in the house, didn't work. Connected the PLC modem in the garage with the PMCC, worked.

Also note that the PMCCs PLC modem only allows a 10 MBit connection. So you most likely can't apply the specs of todays higher performance PLC modems.

Ring = Circuit

Some homes have more than a single circuit.

I would use a pair of plc adapters if distance was an issue and within the standard 200m. PMCC + PLC and then PLC + router / AP.

Finally got around to charging last night and looks like the time zone issue I've had since Nov'20 has been addressed with the firmware update - nothing else has changed.

New PMCC software now throws a “red error” popping an internal circuit breaker when charging my son’s 2022 Tesla Model Y - it has charged this vehicle perfectly since Dec. 2021 - but now after allowing the update I’m getting errors when charging the “Y” - grr grr grr grr

it even throws errors when I dial the AMPs down on the Model Y - so it’s a really really odd error. I have two PMCC’s and both the upgraded ones do the same thing.

the PMCC’s continue to work fine for my wife’s Cayenne and my 2020 Taycan.

this did not used to be the case.

BEWARE the update if you also use your PMCC to charge other non-Porsche vehicles - my experience is that we’ve had a regression with this software update.

That is a bit worrying if the update causes this fault?
I will try that with my M3 to see if it is happens here as well.

My satellite view is gone which is not such a big deal but my Homelink stopped functioning. I deleted the entry and I’m not able to store the remote code anymore. No more garage opener.
Well it can be worse!
How worse can it be?

@daveo4EV , I have no problem at all to charge a model3 after the SW update on the PMCC. So there must be something in the US? Could it be that you have to use the Tesla Tap? We have CCS2 connectors here on most EV’s

no tesla tap required - it’s using hte standard Tesla to J-1772 adapter which is trivial and passive adapter…
