The problem happens about every 3rd time I use the car and almost always on a 40 plus mile trip. In other words just about everytime I use the car. Last wed I drove 30 miles turned car off went to dentist then started car 1 hr later and the car screen went black,. Drove to Porsche and they rebooted it. Again the head tech said Porsche knows about the problem and is happing on most 2023 cars and are working on a software fix!!!!!! Now 6 mo waiting for the fix?

Yes I am the original owner of the car. All my screens go black with a blu circle going around , I guess trying to find a connection. My screen in front of the steering wheel works but both the center and passenger screen goes totally dark and cannot use any function in the car,(radio, garage opener, nav and any other app that shows up on the screens. They usually go back on next day or later after the car is shut off. But I would not go on a long trip when you have the possibility of the nav map goin blank and not being able to see where I can charge the car. The bottom line is that the computer keeps shutting off and has been happing since the car is new.

What you are describing is that the PCM display and center console display screens stay black. This is not an app login problem or a datacomm problem. You also indicate that the black screen problem has been recurring every 3rd time you use the car during the past 6 months.

You've also indicated your Porsche dealer technicians have told you this a known problem, happening on most 2023 cars and you must wait for a software fix from Porsche.

PCM and center console screens going black has been reported on the forum in the past. It has happened to my car on 2 occasions in 18 months. Most reports here indicated the black screen problem happens intermittently and often goes away after the car is idle for a couple hours or overnight. I believe I have seen a couple reports here where cars with this problem were repaired by the dealer either by resetting software, or replacing components.

The problem you have reported is severe. It is not happening to that degree "on most 2023 cars". If it were, you wouldn't be the only person here reporting it happening every third trip. Being told to wait indefinitely for a software fix from Porsche is unacceptable.

From where I am sitting you are being fed a line of bs from your dealer. If it was my car, I would escalate this matter at the dealership. Get your dealer to write down the steps they have taken to diagnose and resolve the problem. If that dealer can't or won't fix the problem, if possible find a different Porsche dealer to look at the problem with your car.

Sorry you are having this problem. It is not normal. Good luck.

I’m familiar with that. To add insult to injury, at least in my case, if I look closely it is apparent that the PCM did actually boot pretty far.
Press the parking assistant button on the lower screen, and it actually comes up. Look at the side strip where all the status icons are, and quite a few of them appear. Even CarPlay works to a degree, as you can play music through the phone and use the steering wheel control to skip tracks, proving that it has a working and active connection to the phone.
But for some reason, *something* does not come up, and that is enough for the PCM to not offer you almost any means of interaction with it.
If it has to come to that in the first place, I’d much rather the PCM let me use all the systems that did obviously come up, even if it’s just through the shortcut buttons for example.

Careful there, I think OP is a bit imprecise in the description of their problem. I don’t think their screen literally stays black, rather it’s showing the “loading” spinner. It’s a very different issue, and one I am sadly familiar with in at least a similar presentation (see my reply directly above).

Thanks for your replay, I agree with what you are saying that it is not happening with all the cars. I reported it to Porsche Cust service and just told my dealer he has until. Sept 1 to get me a new car or refund the $$. The dealer was going to replace the entire computer but Porsche said do not replace the computer because it is a software prob???? Sound like bS to me. If a software prob it would be on many cars not just a few that you and I have read about. Thanks again for your thoughts.

The real problem it should not happen on a new car and should work properly and should not have to reboot or wait for a few hrs or overnight to work! Unacceptable . Anyone having a similar problem shoul report it to Porsche and mention it on this forum as a few have. Thanks for your response.

Yes, @Taycan barry 's description in the forum may be imprecise, but precision matters to the dealer repairing it, not to this forum. His first post here about his car's recurring problem was early May and he was seeing the dealer about it then. Whether the problem is completely black screen, or black screen with loading spinner, the car having the problem every couple of drives for 2 1/2 months, being told most MY23 Taycans have the same problem, and being left to live with it indefinitely until somebody comes up with a "software fix" sounds like bs to me. It's not my car, so my opinion does not really matter.

I am very appreciative of any comment that people care to share and would love to hear from other 2023 taycan cross tourismo 4s drivers. Thanks to all who want to express their thoughts. And just to be clear I have blank screens with a black or blue spinner!

I am having the screen issues. It has done it off and on, hadn’t for a month or two and now started up again. Sent pictures to my Service Advisor, will see what he says. (‘23 CT 4S)

For those who have been having a problem on 2023 taycan, maycan and cayenne screens going black with a spinning blue circle , Porsche just notified me they have a fix for the problem . You should be hearing from your dealer in the next week or so.
