This is a question for the Taycan forum owners who plan to keep their vehicle beyond 2-4 years. Has anyone considered or purchased a Porsche Scheduled Maintenance Plan? I just took my 2022 for 2 year service and everything was fine unless you consider the $970 cost not fine. To cover the 40K and 60K checks I was quoted $5170 which seems like a lot for just inspections and filters/fluid but I understand that a 60K Porsche inspection can be quite pricy. As an aside, I decided against an extended warranty since it's only offered by 3rd parties, it's hard to tell what will break down in an electric Porsche, and at this point I'd rather self insure than give my money to somebody else ahead of time.

My two cents: If you're not going to purchase an extended warranty, why not save on the prepaid maintenance plan and instead use an independent for your future scheduled maintenance?

I’ve looked over the maintenace schedule. What happens at 40k and 60k that is that pricey? I recently had my 20k service. It was $700~ ish. It was just filters, checks and a break fluid Change. That was pricey. But I figured it was a Porsche tax. Other than brake pads at 6 years can’t think of anything on the Taycan that should cost more than the 20k service.

I also question if brake pads will even be necessary at 60K given regenerative braking and relatively nonaggressive driving.

Agreed with the caveat that it would have to be a very trust worthy independent that has experience with a Taycan.

For reference here's the maintenance tables from the manual. A few extra things to check at 40K and the only extra I see at 60K is to replace brake pads which again I question will be actually necessary in an EV.

After one month I just got my car back from dealer to fix the sealing of the battery compartment for water leaks. Dealer told me I need service to replace the cabin filter, check brake fluid and run diagnostics on the battery cell: Price they quoted was $1250! The dealer price for the cabin filter quoted $150. Price from OEM filter on internet $69. I can replace the cabin filter myself it is not that hard. RE checking the batteries- the car comes with an 8 year battery warranty so paying hundreds to check makes no sense. Brake fluid level: easy to check. Bottom line after warranty of 4 years it makes more sense to pay for brake pads, I never found extended warranties to make sense.

I'm probably one of the few that actually bought the Porsche Schedule Maintenance Plan. I ended up getting the Cross Turismo for slightly less than MSRP, which was pretty good for 2022 and they also discounted the service plan for me. I decided to buy it as I intended to keep the car long term.

I bought out the lease on my 2020 4S last September, and plan to keep the vehicle for at least the end of the HV battery warrantee. Therefore I decided to buy the Porsche Electric Vehicle Service Protection Policy from Porsche Financial Services. My policy provides coverage for 84months/85,000 miles. So for $5k I get coverage until 2030.
Given the cost of repairs, I find this to be a good buy, and it covers just about everything except the HV battery which is under the 8 year battery warrantee.
However, I will still need to cover the very high routine periodic service. It is ridiculous to spend $1200 for pollen filter, and a general inspection.
Nevertheless, I love the car.

Hi, so first, it looks like you extended to 7 years of coverage, which would take you out to 2027, not 2030? I believe the years they cover are from the beginning of the factory warranty (to 2027), not the end (to 2031). Did you negotiate the price or is that what the dealer quoted at the start?

60K is to replace brake pads
It isn't 60K, it is 6 years. It's not about wear, it is about corrosion and delaminating.

Your pads and disks might need replacing at other times because of wear, and yes, that is much less often with regen.

Yes, I stand corrected... the policy begins with the manufactures Original In Service Date and zero miles. The dealer quoted the price, and there were a variety of options with regard to duration,, mileage and deductible. I chose the $250 deductable.

By the way, as I understand it, if there are no claims during the insured period, there is some sort of partial refund.

I bit on the maintenance plan before I picked up the car at the Porsche Experience Center in L.A.
When the manager of the delivery center and another delivery employee (who by the way were fantastic) were telling me about the maintenance schedule I told them I bought the maintenance plan. They both laughed hard at me and said all you have to do is replace the cabin filter yourself and pay $5-600 for the brake fluid change and inspection. Bear in mind that these are Porsche NA employees effectively doing the dealers task of delivery....well plus the incredible track sessions.
BTW I highly recommend factory or Experience Center delivery. Did 2 Cayenne European deliveries prior to Taycan purchase.. North American Taycan owners cannot do European Delivery because of charger differences.
After driving 1500 miles home and thunkin' about it I decided to cancel the maintenance plan and got a full refund albeit was 30 days after documents so I'm sure it's prorated to some degree if much later.
