I'll cut to the chase.

Aberdeen dealership has installed 2 new 150kW Porsche chargers some weeks ago. Still inoperative.

Edinburgh dealership has the same installation (one is even lit up as active in green). Neither working.

Jointly this renders "free" year 1 Taycan charging a joke in Scotland and misrepresentation at best.

7 mths of ownership.

I think I'm entitled to another free year don't you?

Not sure if the only other options (Glasgow) have theirs in operation but that's a 3 HR drive away or perhaps Perth (2 hrs away)...

Preston’s chargers were installed back in March, still not working, visited Cheshire Porsche 2 weeks ago and they are in the same position.

Cheshire Porsche explained that the final sign off requires a visit from the engineering team in Germany, due to Covid this hasn’t been possible up to now.

I'm not sure the speed of the Glasgow chargers and whether they work. But the gates are only open during normal working hours. So pretty inconvenient for me.

However, I do think those who couldn't access free charging during their first year should get an extra year!!

Is the one year charging supposed to be free for all purchasers of new Taycan’s? My dealership seemed to know nothing about it!

they have just had two rapid chargers installed. The chargers themselves draw power from a huge battery installed alongside them. They said each charger can do around eight full charges each day.

Yes free with purchase but you need to register for the Porsche Charging Service on My Porsche. It is a subscription service which renews annually.

Upon registration you will receive a Porsche Taycan Charge Card which you simply use to tap and go at a Porsche charger.

Stunned that your dealer knows nothing about this. Write to Porsche UK and inform as there is no excuse for this.

Rapid (50kW) or Ultra (150kW) - tall slim over designed looking units?

Same in Aberdeen but they are relocating the barriers to make the service available 24x7.

It will be great when functional but when....

Astonishing! Neither the Aberdeen or Edinburgh dealerships offered this as an excuse. The only words of wisdom offered was simply they couldn't get them to work.

I suspect it is software related as the units clearly have power.

Now that Germany has just gone Red they won't be turning up anytime soon.

Perth didn’t work, but a very helpful sakes manager (Ally) came out and started the charge for me with the centres card. Only at 50Kw at the moment, something to do with a faulty battery pack that feeds the chargers. Had to order a new card from Porsche.

Would be way easier for Porsche to give everyone an extra year :p

But certainly, owners in geographies that have been effectively denied any free public charging.

Good to know. Aberdeen is still not operational this week. Apparently one worked for a short while and then stopped. Staff did not appear to know much about it. Communication at the Centre has never been a strength.

As an aside, Dundee has a charging hub - 13 chargers or so and a mix of 50kw and 22kW units run by ChargePlace Scotland and cheap as chips. Other councils should mirror and up their game.

Used the 350kw chargers few times times at Porsche Sheffield over the last few days. Very fast!

I thought the Porsche Charging Service was at discounted rate. 30p per kw? Didn't think it was free. Will soon find out if I get an invoice and money taken from Bank.

Subscription is free in year 1 and discounted rate for electric. Prices are in the Porsche Connect App under fees and subscriptions.
