Look what the government didn't do with Vauxhall (van plant in Luton, ZEV mandate being the main reason) - shameful!
The UK government, with its penchant for a quick buck, will saw off its own limbs only to later realize it’s rendered itself immobile. The Vauxhall situation sounds like another example of this shortsightedness — shameful, indeed!

I've mentioned elsewhere i got £33.5k off my J1.2, 8 miles, I'm the first owner.

But my deal got better as they also threw in the VTS tracker (£522) and 2 free services, so more like £35k off.

They were also giving a lower finance rate through VW finance, which, when compared to brokers was cheaper as the guaranteed future value was higher.

I'm still going to get destroyed by depreciation, so I better enjoy the 4 years ahead!

This is an amazing deal and with this kind of discount your depreciation curve is going to look quite healthy.

Back in October I was ready to pull the trigger on the MY25 base. I was getting ~8% discount from California dealers. I eventually got spooked of all the stories of Taycans troubles and recalls shared on this forum, Reddit and Rennlist and... I ended up buying a 911 (extremely happy with the purchase).

Here's the interesting thing though - I'm periodically checking whether Taycans that I test drove and discussed with dealers are still available and... all of them are still on dealers lots. From all the cars that I was looking at not a single one sold since October and only one of them was a new arrival at that time.

I think a combination of declining demand for EVs, white collar recession in the US, depreciation of Taycans, and stories of Taycans unreliability... completely killed the demand :(.

I think that custom order leadtime is a better measure of demand than inventory cars sitting on lots. I do not understand buyers who spend that kind of money on boring lot configs.
Although the two shift days are behind, my Aug 18 order is going into production 5.5m later on Jan 29. A 5.5m factory order book is not too shabby.

Depreciation, sure, but it is across the board for all EVs. i4s are good cars and they are falling like stones. J1.1 reliabilty, sure as well, but it does not take excessive rationalization to conclude that J1.2 should fare a lot better.

Beyond demand generation discounts chasing country-specific contingencies, maybe some of the doomsday narratives are just that: narratives.

Glad you're enjoying your 911, definitely bucket list for me!

Maybe in 4 years depending on what this net zero government do ?

What amazes me here in the US is how much the legacy automakers (and basically everyone except Tesla) blew the rollout of the charging network. We are more than 10 years into the EV conversion and still if I need to charge outside of my home, it’s a problem in any EV other than my Tesla (and yes I also have a Taycan). This is still what I hear is a concern for prospective new EV adopters. While I can’t say this is a big factor in the depreciation issue with EVs, it may be the only legitimate concern they may have amongst all the misinformed and flat out wrong concerns they often quote. That and maybe the insane prices for a new Taycan battery that I’ve seen on this site. That would certainly have an affect on depreciation I believe and make potential buyers not want to own an older Taycan outside of the warranty. Truthfully I really can’t understand otherwise why there is such massive depreciation and I will do my best to not think about how much my purchased new Taycan has lost value.

1) The average person looks at all EVs, including Teslas, almost like a cell phone. A newer and better one will be out in a couple of years.
2) people want 400 miles on a 5min refuel, at multiple refueling stations at every corner, with no change in current UX.

We can say people can plug in, go to the bathroom, get a bit etc, but most people don't think that way.
I'm low on fuel, I want miles in a few minutes, and leave. No planing or thinking.

Changed my 2021 4s ct last year for a 23 turbo st with 3000 miles on it. Whilst I lost 25000 in a year on the ct the turbo was 70000 off list price. My concern going forwards is the increase in bik which in a few years on a 151k car will be considerable. I love the car and plan to keep it in the long term but am hoping for some significant depreciation so I can buy it from my limited company in a few years at a low price and avoid the bik.
