Hi there,

I'm currently looking for a pre-owned Taycan under $90k. I've found a nicely specced 2020 Turbo with 20kish miles. It was a Launch Vehicle, so it has no factory warranty remaining.

My plan was to buy a Fidelity Platinum 3 year, which is around $3300.

I feel like this is a reasonble path to protect myself - but I've seen general hesitancy from folks around non-CPO cars and just the 2020 models in general.

Is a Fidelity warranty a reasonble alternative to CPO or factory warranty remaining?

Can you not extend the factory warranty. It doesn't need to be in warranty to do that but Porsche will want to do a 111 point check first. It can be extended up to it's 15th birthday. That's the way it works in Europe, I think the states is the same.

It's a buyers market so I would advise to get something newer and avoid MY20 if possible.

Personally, I would only ever source from Porsche and particular as this is an EV really needs that relationship preserved.

+1 to this point by @W1NGE, as tempting as the MY2020 pricing can be it is basically a beta with too many things to go wrong even if you can get it CPO'd (try that first) before going to Fidelity. What are you going to do if something major goes wrong, even if you have zero out of pocket, most likely you will be driving some dinky rental for months waiting on repair. If I would be looking for one, then 2022 would be the oldest starting point with so many deals out there to have.

Echo to avoid MY20s especially non-CPO, BUT I did have a Panamera Turbo S and purchased a Fidelity 48-mo platinum/exclusionary policy. Due to a litany of unforeseen repair needs, it 'earned' me a 5x ROI on the premium I paid, so I would not own a Porsche off-warranty without this protection given that experience. I also can affirm the loaner/rental situation is not pleasant when in for repairs as the dealers seemed to not prioritize my needs over CPO customers. $3300 sound cheap so make sure the deductible and coverage are as you expect/wish.
