I keep getting this weird intermittent fault whereby neither of my charging ports will open, well AC will not open, the DC port will open half way then just stick there until I drive around a bit until the cars computer system seems to fix it.

Porsche centre technicians have no clue. Its not mechanical, I'm pretty sure its a software thing.

Has anyone else experienced this ?

Yea, this has reported before. It was an issue on the original J1 and now my J1.2 exhibits the same behavior. The only difference is the powered charge port doors were an *option* on the J1, but they are included in the J1.2

The solution is straightforward -- You just have to swipe the sensor and it will start to retract the door. When the door starts closing again, forcefully hold it in the open position until it reverses once more and this time it will finish by slowly closing completely. It's like a recalibration or something, I don't think it's software.

There was other threads of people getting their hardware replaced, but I'm not even sure that fixes it 100%.

The reason the other port will not open is because both ports cannot be open at the same time. The car knows one side is stuck open, therefore you cannot open the other side. I think this was a design decision to prevent clowns from hooking up both sides of the car to get double the charge rate, which of course would never work but this stops people from even trying.

Actually, yes!
Happens to me about once a month, always when it’s raining/humid.
Contact your dealer to start a dossier. I text mine about once a month. They told me they’d replace it the next time I bring in the car…

Unfortunately the fix described will not work for me.
I have to let the car sit for 15+ minutes, then when i come back to it it fixes or has already fixed itself.

My MY25 had this problem from new. It's a hardware problem; the fix is to have the charging port door assembly replaced. Details are here.

The big update to PCM 4360 (I'm sure it wasn't the PCM update itself, but one of the many other updates done at the same time) for the J1.2 cars changed the behavior of this problem, at least for me. Before the update the door would stop halfway opening while closing, so you could block the door while it was closing, and it would reset. After the update it would stop halfway while opening. I never was able to trigger the reset by blocking it after that; I had to wait 15m instead.

I've already had the gate replaced twice.
This also happens after it's rained.
