I did the boot part rather than the hatch as a random choice and got lucky. No harm to do both.
Hi Adrian, I used WD40 at the weekend on the latch as you suggested and it worked. Thanks for the advice. I wasn't sure this was the issue, but seems like it has gone. ? hopefully it won't return.

Had the same problem. Please don't "fix" this with WD40. WD40 is NOT a lubricant but a water dispenser spray. Pull the metal protecting guard - it's on clips. Clean any dirt you find on the lock (WD40 can be used for that), wipe, spray with Lithium Grease, wipe excess. Close the protector. That was enough for my car - 5 min work. You can put some cloth tape on the trunk part but just one roll and make sure it doesn't trigger the protection against something getting in the way of closing.

Umm - https://wd40.co.uk/product/high-performance-silicone-lubricant/

Agree that an actual grease or equivalent might be longer lasting. Never had a car where I've had to do this so clearly a manufacturing issue.

On all other cars I've had the latch is on the trunk part. The Taycan has it reversed - the trunk part has the static metal part and the latch is at the chassis. I guess so it can collect water and dirt easier...

Just picked up a used Taycan GTS ST and had the same issue. It was driving me nuts. I don't usually post in forums but this saved my life. Took 2 mins with lithium greaser from Amazon and viola no more rattle. Now just have to figure out the front seat creaking. Thanks alot!

I first thought the noise in my car was coming from the trunk, but it actually turned out to be the ski hatch (third seat hatch). About six months ago, my dealer placed a small piece of fabric around the metal parts, and since then I haven’t had any rattling or vibrations.

I had taken apart the rear hatch plastic trim thinking it was one of the clips broken/misaligned but I sprayed some metal lubricant into the trunk latch and the noise appears to have gone away at least for this morning's drive to work.

If it re-appears, I'll bring up the TSB and have the OPC readjust the latch.
