Hey everyone.

Yesterday someone rear ended me on the freeway. Spirits are down to say the least.
My car was a Porsche Taycan 4S with about 15kmiles.
After the collision, SOS was called immediately without my initiation and authorities arrived in about 10mins. Kudos to Porsche for that.
My question is what does everyone think I should do. I wasn’t able to drive the car to the shoulder, the car had a bunch of error messages pop up including Electrical System fault. The towing company also had trouble towing the car since it wasn’t able to be driven.
The car will be looked at tomorrow by the estimator and insurance.
I love the car but I’m worried even after they say they can fix it I’ll run into issues with the electrical or mechanical down the road due to the accident. Just looking for advice from the more experienced on here. This was my first big luxury car purchase, love the car but don’t want to get too attached if I should be selling it or getting rid of it instead.
Attached are the pictures.

I'm a collision blueprinter for Audi, BMW, Tesla.

A high end reputable shop that follow manufacturer's procedures should not make you feel worried. DO NOT GO TO THE SHOP YOUR INSURANCE RECOMMENDS. Go to the shop Porsche is certified with. DO NOT TRUST YOUR INSURANCE, TRUST THE REPAIR PROFESSIONALS. Insurance companies are shady af.

Probably your rear body panel will need to be replaced, and so your reinforcement HSS bar, this should be a $25k+++ repair, as both quarter panels would need to be blended.

Do not be fool by how light and superficial it looks, vehicles are designed to transfer energy, so all the damage will be once you remove bumper, perhaps the floor will be buckled and the rail ends could be compromised.

Have your insurance representative pursue the diminished value claim against the other party since the damage incurred will probably affect your vehicle's resale or trade-in value, even with a complete and pristine repair.

If it makes you feel better OP my first true luxury car was my 911 and I crashed it 5 months into ownership. 13k in fixes. I still have it to this day and not a single problem. Find an authorized Porsche repair shop. It makes all the difference. See images of the journey. Hang in there. It’s stressful but just keep in mind no matter how much we love them - they are just cars and everything can be repaired. Don’t fret about future problems until they happen.

I would let them try to fix it. Insist on OEM parts, and note the electrical system failures, which could just be issues with the damage to the rear sensors, which will get replaced anyway. The biggest challenge will be availability of parts adding to your wait. While they are at it, I would consider upgrading the rear bumper with the Turbo Conversion. Even if you want to sell it, you should get the work done.
Can I get insurance to pay for the Turbo Conversion haha

It looks like this occurred in the carpool (HOV) lane?
Was the driver who rear-ended you even have 2+ occupants ?

Why'd you request the old parts returned? What did you do with them?

Sorry to hear you got rear ended. As others have said be sure to have the car repaired by a Porsche certified body shop. They have equipment to measure that the frame is not bent. These cars require deformed structure to be cut out and replaced. Good luck.

Wanted to hang the bumper on my wall as a reminder of my stupidity of trying to drive in the snow in Seattle. Wife veto'ed plan and I never ended up taking the parts back.

I get it though! Porsches are so pleasurable to drive, you want to use them all the time. That's why I don't have a second car; I daily-drive all my Porsches.

If I had some secondary beater, I would be unhappy driving it wishing it was the Porsche.

Daily drive all of them? I have five cars, 3 of which from the Porsche family but most days drive one, maybe two, cars in a day :). I might drive all five in one day if I’m on a washing frenzy :)

yep I have 3 myself which I rotate thru based on how I feel...my BMW M4 coupe last week was just fun to drive to work daily and then my Taycan CT4 is my new daily and good to go there...and when I am in a Carrera State of mind...my 992 is there too. Different strokes for different moods and needs. :)
Guys, the dashcam model is in the bottom right of the video, BlackVue DR900s-2ch ;)
. Glad to see its so clear quality wise; have one in the boot of my Taycan CT ready to be installed as soon as my audio sound guys can get an avail appt.
Excellent camera system. I have one in my Defender and it's been great. Lots of accessories available for it.

Anyone do an install on a Taycan? Specifically looking to see if there is an aftermarket harness to tap power without cutting.

Closest I've found is a few threads here with people saying they don't want to void their warranty (lol) and a guy who says he doesn't want an "aftermarket" cam because it will wear the 12v battery down and, apparently, the magic Porsche cam doesn't use power? And this: https://blendmount.com/power-cord-m...g-2-amp-inline-fuse-with-military-grade-taps/
Shouldn't be that hard but yes its incidents like the OPs which is why I paid the extra $$ to get a system to install in all of my cars. Just makes sense to have the extra piece of mind and sometimes also...evidence. If it makes a claim that much easier...then am all for it!
