Incredibly well integrated and powered from source in replaced console housing part above mirror - by far the most OEM look available - Porsche should just buy the patent :)!

Agreed. If the Porsche branded cam is made in China, why not just snag this one that's also made in China?

Just ordered 2 FitcamX, one for the 9Y0 Cayenne and one for the Taycan. Hoping install isn’t awful, I am pretty handy, and my husband has an electrical engineering degree.

Can be a little finicky but a ton of good advice in diff install threads here - I installed with no issues (have lot of experience) but others struggled a bit. As always key is to just take your time with each step (if you knew me you’d laugh here! :))

I honestly considered the fitcamx and contacted them through WhatsApp because parking mode and rear camera is important to me.

Contrary to what they apparently said to other people, in my case, the representative was insisting on a hardwire kit that had to be pulled to the fuse box additionally to the Y cable.

That's when I thought that it won't be no different from a regular setup but without (true) 4k and less parking mode support as other solutions just so that it would look "prettier" in the front.

Wasn't worth it in my opinion.

Are you sure they were talking about a Taycan? I fitted one last week and loads of people here have, and it's just plug and play.

The only issue I had is that I found it hard to pop the middle section back on, and there is still a slight gap if you look closely behind the mirror. I need to pop the big panel and that one back off and I think move the wiring slightly. May or may not bother as you have to bend round and look for it to notice!

Yes but mind that this was for a dual setup (with rear cam) and parking mode. The guy insisted it had to be wired with an Y cable and had to be routed into the fuse box.

I told him that others (and the website) was just mentioning the y cable, not the hardwire but he said that didn't apply to dual setups with parking mode.

Who am I to tell otherwise to the manufacturer? ??‍♂

Anyway, I'm not disappointed with my a139 pro choice. You can't beat the Sony starvis 2 sensor. Heck, I wish my daily videos had that quality.

I might consider the Thinkware U3000 in the future IF parking mode is superior (it will come with integrated radar module to force wake up the camera from deep sleep on movement and start recording). However, first glances into the U3000 specs don't mention HDR which is the starvis 2 flag feature so the judge is still out on that.

I'm going to run mine directly from the 12v and I prepared a lithium battery monitor (Bluetooth) to assess the discharge rate.

In any case, assuming the data we got is correct, the current 8x recharge function should keep the 12v safe for a few days. The most important missing variables right now are a) at what soc we're leaving the 12v at start and b) what the charge rate of the 12v battery is. These two variables can change the expected duration of parking mode dramatically (also got myself a noco booster if the worst happens).

I'll report in a few weeks, hopefully.
Did the math check out?

It did. Most time I've left the car unattended during vacations with the dashcam recording was 11 days and it started right up when I returned ??

According to the battery monitoring device, it held for 4 days followed by a daily 'blip' in the 12v battery. So according to that, it should have held for at least 12 days.

Thank you! I'm debating between a dashcam w/ park mode vs. the more stealthy looking fitcam. This def gives one more vote towards regular dashcam. Could you share where did you plug in the 12v for front and rear cams? Thanks!

I used the viofo A139 pro hence the back camera is powered by the front device. You only need to power the front camera. I got the power from the left footwell.

If you search for that dashcam model on this forum, you'll find extended step by step installation guides.

I'm pretty sure I contributed to them too.

It's relatively easy to be honest. I think I installed mine in an afternoon.

Edit: this is the thread https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/dashcam-viofo-a139-pro-1-2-3ch-hdr.13665/

I'm based in the GTA in Ontario, and around ten different installers straight up refused to hardwire a dashcam stating that it would be either bad for the 12 V battery, blow a fuse, or is somehow bad for the car. I find it hard to believe that when so many people already have hardwired dashcams and don't seem to have major issues. Any recommendations on where to get a dashcam hardwired in the GTA?
I installed a FitCamX in my CT4S in about 20 minutes. Easy breezy and the app works seamelessly.
