I'm intrigued as to what such a system consists of to cost that amount of money? You clearly don't shop at Richer Sounds.

I remember seeing and hearing a pair of Kef Muon speakers in Harrods in about 2006. From memory they were about £220k a pair then. Just checked and I’m amazed to see they still make them at a now more reasonable 180k a pair!

You could quite easily get full systems up to Taycan money with any of the big name hi-fi specialists.

I'm sure you can, I just don't shop in places that sell such high-end equipment. This is what sparked the intrigue to see what 100k of audio equipment looks like. The most I've spent is about 5k on a 5.1 surround system.

Lol me neither, I just saw them when clothes shopping in Harrods and was amazed at the price and how ostentatious they were, but boy did they sound good.

I grew up with my dad having an old school B&O system and a beogram which as turntables went was amazing. I have dabbled with their stuff but never progressed to the real high end products. All I have now is a Stage sound bar and two Airplay speakers dotted around the house, how times have changed!

I bought most of it a long time ago - I wouldn't spend as much today, partly because I am retired and don't have the income and partly because, since I retired, I have done a few scientifically valid comparisons which show (to me) that the laws of physics are still valid )) and there is a lot of BS in the audio business preying on the fact that a lot of their potential customers are not technically minded.
I find the most important part of a hifi is the speakers, combined with their location in the room and the listener's locatioin too.

Most competently engineered electronics perform fine, so as long as they have the facilities you need and a look you like and electrically match the other stuff it is fine.

The biggest problem in a car is those most important things you have no control over, driver quality, efficiency and location are key and you can't do much about it.
DSP can paper over the cracks to a fairly large extent but it is always compromised.

My main system was all Goldmund, a Goldmund Reference turntable with Ph2 RIAA processor, Mimesis 36+ CD transport with Mimesis 20 DAC, Mimesis 22 preamp and Minesis 29.4 monoblocks driving Epilog 1&2 speakers mounted in an Epiframe.
I bought a Devialet D-Premier amp about 15 years ago and updated it to a Original d'Atelier version 6 or 7 years ago.
I still use the turntable, but not much, and CD transport.The Devialet has a cunning compatiblity with Airplay for streaming. I have a qobuz account and just started using the new Apple classical service which seems to solve the normal problem of searching not finding what I want, promising so far.

I have a second system using Tune Audio Anima horn speakers (109dB/watt sensitivity so even a 1 watt amp is deafening) which are dynamic and fun.

I have good systems in my study and my bedroom using big 3-way pro monitors, no little 2-way speakers here - I like my bass clean, undistorted and not boomy.

I think getting good sound quality at home was and is a rare consideration and low priority for most people.
Only one of my kids cares about good sound quality, the others are happy with little speakers dotted around the place they wouldn't devote the space or budget to something capable of accurate sound, not worth it for them.

I was "spoiled" by going to live concerts in London as a student and realised how different the real music experience was to 99% of reproduced, most is literally nowhere near!
I built my first speakers in my second year as a student from a kit.
One might have fitted into a Taycan, both no way.

Having written that wide frequency range sound is available at more reasonable prices these days.

I have the standard system in my RWD. Had it since July last year. I’ve got tinnitus and definitely the start of noise induced hearing loss so for me the standard system is fine. High performance car sound systems don’t interest me. However I can tell It’s not as good as my Audi’s Bose system, but I mainly listen to radio and podcasts so I’m more than happy with it.

If good sound is a must, for 2k you get an amp and speakers that will sound as good as Burmester.

The Burmester has tweeters in the A-pillar, which is where they need to be for clear treble, though it is still compromised by the other speaker locations built into the car, I’m quite sure you won’t be able to match the Burmester with add ones, it’ll need bigger mods.

Low-reaching, powerful and punchy bass, perfectly integrated into the smooth and detailed mid and high frequencies.

I'm not sure if the A-pillar speakers are AMT tweeters, the main ones are located in the dash.

Burmester is good sound system and has a lot of power but I find it harsh at high volume, I think there are too many tweeters, 9 in total.

The speakers in the Base and Bose systems are really trash (I took them out in my Panamera).

Upgrading to quality speakers and an AMP can deliver a very good sound in my opinion.

i have thought about upgrading the sound system using a third party, would it affect the volume when it comes to sales?btw, do you have a place to recommend to get it done? thanks

Thats interesting, i am still waiting for the build slot, however, checked with my sales in Fed 2023, was been told the option was still not available . i guess its because this may cause further delays, as if you order in march 2023, you may expect delivery on later 2024 and the supply issue might be solved by the time.

I was told the same in February but manage to "lock" mine with Bose ten days ago.
