Your hood is up, and because of the off angle shot your seeing what looks like a gap on one side and an overlap on the other. Watch the video of the assembly line, you’ll see the cars come down the line with the hood unlatched.

Just because you didn’t order the glass it doesn’t mean it needed no roof. Maybe your metal roof was installed at this station just like the glass roof would be (I’ve seen other manufacturers do just that). Or, if it was installed prior to paint dip (IMO less likely), the car just rolled through this station for a picture.

You laugh, but I think I saw that one a car once. Default roof was black, you could body color it for a fee or get glass. This is not as crazy as you think, it does simplify manufacturing if all roofs are the same, if they are installed after paint (which also makes sense if glass roof is an option, plus easier access for welding/painting robots if roof is not present). I think the eTron GT comes with a black roof, glass or carbon fiber - not sure if you can body color though.

You are thinking too small. Why not body colored everything, including windows. Cameras and screens inside instead of glass windows. Then a simulator option, with dynamic chassis controls simulating motion like commercial jetliner simulators. Extra replay option (needs additional storage) to replay your favorite drives while you sit in your garage.
