Morning all,

Could do with some help.

Had my GTS ST for just over a week now and having a reoccurring Spotify login issue.
When you login for the first time you scan the QR code on the phone which takes you to an approval page.
Spotify then opens up with my playlist etc. Now every time i enter the vehicle its asking me to scan the QR code to access.
I did the same with Apple Podcasts etc and no issues.

Have you checked My Porsche to check that Spotify is still active here?

6 weeks now with my GTS. Spotify is a complete failure, at least for me. I've Registered my account through the My Porsche website and through the car's QR code (and registering with the QR code should set My Porsche to "linked"). I get the menus now but as soon as I select something to play Spotify crashes. No longer registered and the website has "unticked" the Spotify link. Rinse and repeat. Were you actually able to play something? I have yet to play anything on Spotify via the car's native app. Spotify through Car Play has worked, but seems to require a strong LTE signal. The Taycan expert at my dealership is stumped. Based on posting on this site we are not alone in having problems with Spotify but the problems seem to vary widely. Good luck and post if you manage to get it to work.

I've Registered my account through the My Porsche website and through the car's QR code (and registering with the QR code should set My Porsche to "linked"). Sounds like we have the same issue. With a good cell signal on the road Spotify works via Car Play. Never works from the PCM. Silence from Porsche on a fix. All the other sources work - Sirius, internet radio, Apple podcasts). Frustrating since Spotify was the included media provider.

The subscription included with the car. Basic Spotify as far as I know. It's not captioned "Premium" on My Porsche and on my phone gives me the option to upgrade to Premium. If Spotify Premium is required it's not noted anywhere on My Porsche that I have found. I have no Spotify account other than the one accessed via My Porsche so that has to be the one my phone logs into. Also, previously the app was at least able to generate a QR code. Now not even that.

The Spotify app is a big headache to be honest. Took me a bit to get the login set up on the car. Even using it, it will keep bouncing back between the app and Android Auto or just buffer / not play. It feels like it's confusing itself between the app on the car, Android Auto, and whatever my phone is doing.

Ah, therein lies the problem - you need to have a Spotify Premium Account for this to work (unless this has changed recently).

This, I now find is absolutely true. You have probably solved my dilemma (won't know that for sure without upgrading to premium and trying it). Porsche's manuals and documentation are even more convoluted than the PCM. I hadn't gone deep enough into the fine print.

Under Porsche Connect (on the Porsche Connect Store):

"Spotify
Enjoy listening to millions of songs ad-free and podcasts on-demand. Right from your touchscreen display."

Sounds like it is included as part of the Porsche Connect function, but doesn't explicitly say it. As far as I can tell all the other features of Porsche Connect listed there are included and functional at no additional cost.

Dig down into "offer details" and there is the requirement to have/purchase a Premium Subscription. Kind of opaque to have a toggle for Spotify, establish a subscription through My Porsche, and then not show the fact that it won't work from the car without upgrading. "Right from your touchscreen" isn't quite accurate.

OK, rant over. Thank you for pointing out the requirement for Premium. The answer was there all the time and I hadn't gone deep enough.

As a follow up to the above. Got premium and Spotify does work. Sort of, barely, not really. The problem is not with Spotify specifically but Porsche. My Tesla (and this is not a Tesla vs Porsche comment) connects seamlessly and quickly in exactly the same spot in my driveway that the Porsche won't. The Porsche takes a very strong cellular signal to load and play content. So far the Tesla has no apparent problems with Spotify at any location. Porsche needs to upgrade to a better receiver perhaps? It has no effect on how well the car drives but it is very much a big part of the ownership experience in the current connected world. The PCM needs work. This would be really crappy execution by any manufacturer. From Porsche? Big letdown.
