Was very alarmed this morning looking out onto driveway and seeing what looked like a fair amount of steam coming from the front of the car
Car hadnt been driven since yesterday evening; wasnt plugged in for charging (hadnt been charged for 2 days)
There is steady light drizzle
I went out and saw it was steam and not smoke. The bonnet was demonstrably warm to the touch and warmer than oher panels etc
I lifted the from bonnet and the plastics etc inside were all cool; there was a fan noise coming from the vent/grill

I am assuming this isn't normal right?? What could it be so I know to book it in?

battery thermal maintanence there are heat exchangers (radiators) in the front of the vehicle - especially when charging the car will "cool/heat" the battery as necessary to maintain ideal LiON cell temperatures for battery longevity.

that is the most likely explanation and it is normal if that is what is happening

also if you have a "timer" set to condition the cabin that could activate the thermal systems on the vehicle to achieve the set cabin temperatures.

also with an EV the car is never really "off" - battery thermal maintenance is a 7/24 job and always on the table if the vehicle sense battery temps are falling outside of ideal norms - so it will heat/cool the battery as necessary to keep things "in the zone".

unless there are any warnings/notices inside the vehicle and you note that you heard fans running - and we know porsche does all their heat-exchange at the front of their vehicles - this is 99% probably just normal thermal management…

the same thing used to happen with my 2018 GT3 911 after going through a car wash - the car wash water being thrown onto the front 3 radiators would cause massive amounts of steam to rise from the front of the vehilce while being driven and coat the windshield with "steam" at low speeds - it was alarming at first until I realized what was going on.

99% likely nothing to see here (other than steam from the warm radiators) and the car is just doing it's thing to keep your battery working for the warranty period.

That all makes perfect sense and is incredibly reassuring.
As you say no warnings or alarms etc so business as normal then I hope!
Thanks again for swift and comprehensive reply

Depending on your weather, it might also just be sunlight warming the dark surfaces and making the visible water vapor.
I get this after washing the car sometimes, same as you might see steam coming from the road surface when the sun comes out.

I’ve had this before. Porsche Swiss confirmed its water on the radiator being evaporated when the heater heats up the battery.

Left side radior / fan is for battery; right side is for cabin if I remember correctly
