Did this upgrade today. I didn't want to remove the left and right interior panels for fear of breaking clips.. I man handled the enclosure and flipped it 180 degree and installed the Rockford Fosgate P3SD4-8. The picture below shows the box flipped 90 degree.. but It was impossible to mount the new speaker this way, so I flipped it another 90 degrees. You have to trim the mounting surface and remove 2 tabs (red arrow) inside the enclosure. The new driver does indeed hit a little deeper, and it sounds more controlled. It does seem a bit louder.. but not as loud or hard hitting as my Jeep with dual 10's JL and a dedicated 500 watt JL amp ;) Look at that tiny Bose magnet. I dont think a dedicated aftermarket amp would make the 8" sub much louder. so for now I'm happy.

Thanks for the pictures. I’m having my entire audio system upgraded in my ‘23 Audi ETron GT and this gives me confidence that the two 10” Focal Flax EVO shallow mount subwoofers will fit in that trunk area. The B&O sub box in my GT looks similar.

Thats funny. B&O looks identical to Burmester box, which is a joke btw.

Yes, the sound is a joke. With that factory enlosure out of the way, It looks like there should be plenty of room for the two 10” shallow mount Focal subs my installer is planning on. They only require .45 cubic feet each.

Interested in hearing how the upgrade goes. Have done dampening of all doors, door cards and subwoofer enclosure and compartment but havent done anything to the hardware. Now that most of the rattles and vibrations are (almost) under control, the hardware shortcomings are more evident... Are you going to do more than replace the sub?

Yes, along with the dual 10” subs, Focal KX3 separates up front and a Mosconi One 8/10 amp/dsp. My ‘15 Tesla Model S has the KX3’s with a single Focal 12” and JL Audio/Audison electronics and it sounds fantastic.

Through word of mouth, I found a reputable shop here in Naples that has done full audio upgrades in several Taycans and a few E Tron GT’s. He had a McLaren 750S in his shop on Monday when I stopped by to finalize my install equipment so trust that he’s a highly skilled technician.

Just upgraded mine with RF Punch 4-8 parallel wired. I gotta say, wow! It takes a while to warm in the speaker, but once you put on some really bass heavy music like hip hop, Jazz or even Pop. The car comes alive with frequencies you've never heard before the upgrade. Even at low volume with regular internet radio sources, the car sounds much fuller and complete. I've upgraded my Macan's in the past, but I have to say this upgrade has been the best yet. Took 2 hrs because its best to remove several trim pieces and then manhandle the BOSE case upside down to get the subwoofer in. I also did some Dremel trimming around the lip to remove a couple of notches to get the subwoofer to lay flay. Now its perfect fit. Best sound profile - No Surround, No Linear, Bass +4, Treble (Whatever you prefer)

Cheers, D

P.S. Look at that dummy tweeter piece in the mid speaker pillar! I assume its for Burmester use. Its crap and should be an easy upgrade to wire something in.

I got my GT back from the stereo shop and the sound is fantastic! The space available to get the two 10” Focal subs installed in the factory location was not ideal so I made the decision to go for sound over trunk space. The electronic went in the “fronk”. The subwoofer enclosure is 11” deep and 11” tall but I still have room for my golf clubs and other stuff like groceries if needed. The imaging and clarity of the 3 way Focal KX3 separates is nothing short of amazing.

I’m about to do this upgrade, any tips on removing the boot trim to get to it? Can’t see any obvious fixing points for the boot panels… cheers!

are there any special connector or wiring harness required for this? or just order the subwoofer and pop it in?

Nope, you do have to clip the factory ends off the wires and just wire them into the subwoofer. It’s a pressure connecting subwoofer. Follow the diagram for the dual voice coil that shown in one of the above forums so that you get the best sound.

Are there no harnesses or connectors to do it without having to clip the wires?

are you still using the original BOSE amplifier or did you upgrade that as well?
