On Thursday, I finished my 5th longish trip (~750 miles of mixed motorway and backwater roads) in my CT Turbo - and the 3rd of those in THE most horrendous rain - deep standing water sections 100+yds long - torrential rain - lorry spray - and at night. Those conditions - some the of worst I have ever encountered - seem to have been the norm for a few weeks in Western UK .....

Set off on the final 250 miles section homewards at 95% charge - cruising at let's say 'around' the speed-limit ;) when slow traffic permitted -

Sparky handled everything with aplomb - felt totally sure-footed `and planted - not a hint of aqua-planing or loss of control. ..... Even when the rest of the motorway traffic was being forced down to 30-40 mph just by sheer bad conditions - It just felt way too easy and slow for the CT-T. Serenely making progress without any drama. Matrix lights on auto and cutting through the spray wonderfully, quite a light show. Adaptive cruise keeping me relaxed and smug in the stop-start 'caterpillar' traffic... Bose, sounding great.....

A quick 'safety-blanket' 10 mins (ish) charging stop at the 150 miles mark, starting at 195kw ending at around 98kw - and then on my way again to cruise the last 100 miles to home - picking up speed in the now thinning traffic. Arrived with 65 miles spare - late at night - In one filthy-dirty, but still so cool-looking car ... Neighbours wouldn't even have heard me arrive. .......So relaxed, - A quick 'arrived safely' chat with the kids - a slower nightcap - and off to bed... Really enjoying that car now!

That sounds good. Aqua planing is my worst enemy. I lost control with the S2000 once. Now i just avoid the first and last lane In rain or snow. I can't wait for my advisor to give me good news on allocation.

The weight of the car is a real advantage here. Likewise for deep snow. I’ve plowed through snowy roads up past the axles with just all seasons and the car doesn’t even flinch.

That sounds like 4 PM every Summer day in Florida. Good to know.

...presumably no hint of the impaired brake feel or performance as reported by a few forum members?

No nothing - was absolutely rock solid - standard PSCB 'coated' brakes - done 3000 miles only - Had a couple of sudden pull-out-in-front-of-you idiots to defend against too. - but for vast majority - I was playing it safe distance-wise - so was not really testing them too much - prolly most was on regen. ..........Conditions were too nasty to play chicken with Death

I was also quite impressed how well the car works in heavy snow.
What is quite noticeable is the advantage in stability in snow or in wet conditions.
Mostly, I think, this is b/ the PSM and 4-wheel drive systems act much faster than in ICE cars.

Thats good to know - I guess in the CT; and in extremis, I would try gravel mode in heavy snow - that may help too.

But here in the UK, I have only driven in snow 2 or 3 times in almost 40 years - we just don't get it anymore here in the SW UK - I bought a sled for the kids when my son was 4 cos it snowed one weekend - snow melted 2 days later - next time it came out of the garage he was 18 and I was giving it away - and that was 18 years ago - driven in heavy snow mebbies twice since then

Nice! Do you have the all season tires or the summer performance tires?

Just bog-standard summer tyres - they are Pirelli - I wanted Michelin, but you don't get to choose... :( cheers

A few weeks ago we drove from Los Angeles to San Francisco when there was some wind and rain. GTS, Mission-E wheels with summer tires, PSCB brakes, thermal/noise insulated glass. The trip was pleasant and entirely undramatic given the relatively moderate wind and rain.

Except that the wind was gusting 30-50mph and the rain was extremely intense, causing enormous flooding in parts of California. These facts were not at all apparent to us until we stepped out of the car. Wind has very little effect on the Taycan, and the laminated glass significantly insulates you from the noise of a storm. It was the most comfortable storm driving I've ever done.

FWIW I had exactly the same experience again this morning going the other way on the M5 to M6 to Warrington form SW. Gentle showers through Somerset and past Bristol with 40 mph restriction for 'standing water' - road only damp at best..... Then a monsoon level downpour - with lakes of standing water from Bristol to Tewkesbury with no restrictions whatsoever - go figure!!! - car handled all with aplomb and serenity - not taking risks - but wafting past most other cars and vans - got to charger at OPC Tewkesbury and the rain stopped as I pulled in... plugged-in without getting wet - rest of journey was dry - but TBH - doesn't seem to make a difference driving-wise except consumption goes up a tad in a monsoon.... :)
