I'd recently noticed in YouTube reports on Porsche days at several European circuits that Porsche use a fleet of Taycans to show people around the track. Now I've been planning my next session at Silverstone, I see that the Taycan, in all its gen 1 variants, is the only non-2-door Porsche on offer (not even a Cayenne in the GT selection, though I assume that anything is available on special request...and price).
Well we all knew it's sporty, but its suitability on track is debatable, so it's nice to see a bit more acceptance (maybe it's just promotion). Personally, I've really enjoyed it on track (had my 3rd day recently) and in Turbo form it's capable of circulating in a respectable time (on the Silverstone International circuit) even compared with the GT's- thermal endurance (at times as little as 10 miles) being its main weakness, but I'm hopeful that's now been addressed by the refresh.

At Watkins Glen, here in Upstate New York, currently they are not letting EV's on the track.
They claim fire damage from an accident affecting the battery would damage the track.

Sadly, I think that many UK circuits state various justifications for banning EVs.

The other issue with Watkins Glen is that they lack charge stations. When my dealer invited us for a day at WGI last summer I ended up taking my son's Boxster because there was no way to charge the Taycan other than 110V plug. I was not told it was banned by the Glen and the dealer was fine with me taking the car if I wanted, so I wonder if that is a new policy by WGI.

At least at Silverstone, the circuit itself has installed chargers in at least one car park, and the Porsche Experience Centre- a short way along the circuit's perimeter road- has plenty, which are only available to people booked in for Porsche events. But I assume that a general aversion to EVs and reluctance to spend on infrastructure means that Silverstone isn't representative of UK circuits.

I had planned to take my Taycan 4S over to the Glen for opening day.
I figured that I wouldn't have to charge at the track,, since I am just coming over from Ithaca.
I can imagine that WGI will have to accommodate the Cayman E when it shows up next year.
I look forward to ordering one as soon as they are available.
